Purchased last year from a close friend in Dallas, Texas. The engine was brought back to life after some decades by Big D Cycle. The engine seems to run quite well, but it has not been test ridden. Bodywork was completely redone in Dallas also, by the same folks who do Keith Martin's work for Vincent restorations. It's gorgeous. Otherwise, while the bike rolls well, it still needs a little TLC to become concours. Selling for a friend. 1947 Highly Modified Triumph Twin Speed with long stroke engine. This bike and the owner are legends! Featured in the Steve McQueen Movie "ON ANY SUNDAY" (1971). Original owner and rider (can be seen in the movie). Hawkeye Hillbilly built, rode and still owns the bike. It's in excellent show condition. Also to go with the bike are trophies and the racing vest worn in the movie. Hawkeye Hillbilly is a featured rider in the movie, who climbed the famous "Widowmaker Hill", just outside of Salt Lake City. Until this movie, the top of the hill had never been conquered! Hawkeye made it to within fifty feet of the top in this movie! Hawkeye and his bike have won several other competitions including the 1974 Canadian National Championships. A few things about the bike include: very rare all alloy long stroke engine, dual carbs with splay port heads (experimental for the 650 Bonneville), one of 300 imported to the U.S. for the Class C dirt track. OVERVIEW On auction is my 2015 Triumph Thruxton Ace Special Edition. Only 325 of these beautiful bikes were made available in the USA and you won't find a nicer example than this one. I bought the bike in July 2015 and it's been very lightly (and carefully) ridden by a mature owner (only 1194 miles) and lovingly cared for. The Thruxton has been garaged (under two covers) since new. Unfortunately, due to my growing family and work commitments, I no longer have the time to ride, so the bike needs to go to a new home. MODIFICATIONS The only modifications that I have made to the Thruxton was to replace the rear fender, rear light and turn signals with a British Customs fender eliminator kit and small bullet turn signals. The Thruxton's profile is a lot cleaner with the smaller turn signals and stock fender removed. All work was done by the professionals at Dylan Brothers in Nebraska (before they shipped the bike to me last year). No other modifications have been made. Everything else is completely original stock.
