    This motorcycle needs to used.  I have owned it 1988.  It came from “Cue” at House of Triumph in Elmsford NY with 68,000 miles on the clock..  It has always been my second bike, lightly used and garaged.  Weekend  rides have added about 6000 miles.  It now shows just over 74,000 miles.  In the fall of 2011 it underwent substantial mechanical restoration at Max BMW (Brookfield Ct)  which included rebuilding carburetors, draining and cleaning fuel tank, new brake pads and rotors at the front and new brake shoes at the rear,  new center stand, air filters, new throttle and choke cables,  new horns, new fluids (fork, brakes,  new top-end seals.  Total investment was $5100.  It has a fork brace, café faring, original grips, lots of tread on Metzler tires.  “Easy Clutch” is installed.     This bike is like brand new and is hard to find in pristine condition with low miles.   Of course, you will find a few minor blemishes and nicks here and there due to normal riding.  I tried to show those in the pics.  Clean title, single-owner.   This bike does NOT have ABS brakes. Has always been stored indoors. Has heated grips for when the weather gets colder.   Everything is absolutely up to date and bike is running perfectly except for the front tire.  You may get just  a few hundred miles left unless you ride in the rain (I never did), then I would replace it ASAP.   Hard to imagine a better bike.   Sadly, the bike fell over once in my garage.  Replaced left kick stand, brake handle and shifter.  That was a sad day.   Bike has had all its scheduled services done at a BMW licensed dealer/mechanic and is in absolutely perfect working order.  I have all the maintenance receipts.  The bike only required one repair to the fuel line quick-disconnects.  They were replaced by me.

    ID of this rare BMW came from Tom Cutter who was employed by BMW US Importer Butler & Smith as their head technician and a Team BMW member.  By phone conversation Tom told me he helped open the cargo container on a snowy Oct day 1979 which held the silver blue striped Exclusive Sport models.  He stated the container had only 30 of these imported to the USA.  He said very rare bike and asked if I was riding it.  I said yes I did ride it he stated he wouldn't be!  Main reason so few BMW were imported is in 1980 is it was the transition year between Butler and Smith and then BMWNA, imports were so low that was actually their lowest sales year in modern times.  The multi blue stripe pattern Tom believed is likely copied from the Butler & Smith BMW 1978 Superbike racers.  By a German info contact in 1979 the limited edition silver and triple tone blue R100S Exclusive Exklusiv Sport was designed by Walter Maurer from Dachau near Munich.  The model also included chrome shock bodies black springs, polished aluminum fork sliders, carb covers & rear drive housing.  This R100S is NOT a Lufthansa Airlines or Airliner pattern or color design as Internet rumors have evolved, these claims are false!  It took 11 months of research to establish this information.  When I purchased this R100S 7/13 it had 7800 miles now 8665 mi.,.  Seat is in great condition soft and comfortable, all paint scratches are visible in images. Hand control info text/decals are in nice condition with all gauges including clock functioning.  When new it had dealer installed optional high capacity deep oil pan as list on receipt.  Original windscreen.  Only con is the transmission has a false neutral only when down shifting from 4th to 3rd gears.  I have the original take-off Continental tires included with bike.  Collector could remount them and display as original stock.  Has new Deka battery and 800 miles on a set of Shinko tires.  This R100S came from original owner.  Comes with ABT of Chicago sales receipt, water resistant tool container with cover, tools & pouch, owners manual, air pump, tire/tyre repair kit, front wheel locking cable, BMW shop rag and BMW service pamphlet.  Last few images are of original tires mounted from last July 2012.  The rusty R100S Exclusive Sport is the only image I have found of one in the USA.  There are some fakes with painted on strips one I know from Canada.  Checkout my feedback it show 100% for over 1,000 auctions.  Please free to contact me about this collector quality R100S Exclusive Sport.  HEAVYBARREL at CHARTER dot NET On Aug-26-13 at 22:30:51 PDT, seller added the following information: ID of this rare BMW came from an employee of BMW US Importer Butler & Smith.     This is a 1995 BMW R 1100GS motorcycle.  This bike was a new motorcycle trade in, I am a wholesale dealer.  This is one of the true multipurpose bikes that is available today.  It can cruise at 70 plus or ride the fire roads under most conditions.  This bike appears to never been in any severe off road excursions as there is no rust or corrosion on the bike.   Everything works.  The pipes are not rusted and the wheels are excellent.  The tires are 50%.  The bike has hard bags and a rear luggage carrier.  There is a headlight guard and a windscreen.  The battery has just been replaced by the local bmw dealer so the bike is ready to go.  The paint is excellent with just a few very minor marks on the bike.  This is excellent example that is ready to go.  Fly in and ride home or I my be convinced to deliver for food.  Please call with questions.  John O'Neil  314 378 3109

This 2010 BMW R1200GS was purchased new from Carolina BMW.  The previous owner had all services performed here at Carolina BMW.  The 6K mile service was done and the Michelin Pilot Road 3's that have 2,000 miles on them. In 2010 BMW put the Over Head Cam Boxer motor in the R1200GS which provides more midrange, a flapper valve for improved exhaust sound and a smoother transmission.  Fuel mileage has also improved.

You would think carrying a 30.5 point lead into the final round of the 2012 World Superbike Championship would be a safe enough margin to win the title. Aprilia‘s Max Biaggi made it interesting, inexplicably crashing out of the first race at the finale in Magny-C0urs before scoring a fifth place finish in Race Two to give him a 0.5 point margin over Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes to win the title. The 358 to 357.5 point difference is the narrowest finish ever in WSBK.

BMW pulled the covers off the latest iteration of its popular R1200GS, revealing a number of updates including a new boxer engine at the 2012 Intermot show in Cologne, Germany. The German manufacturer has sold 170,000 units of the R1200GS since it was introduced in 2004, making it the world’s top-selling adventure-tourer, so BMW obviously has a lot riding on the new 2013 model. The biggest change for the 2013 BMW R1200GS is its new 1170cc engine.

BMW Bounces Back with Record August Sales

When BMW released its second quarter report last month, the company reported a 4.2% decrease in BMW and Husqvarna motorcycle sales due mainly to a struggling European economy. The economic woes persist but BMW appears to be recovering, reporting a new sales record for the month of August. BMW reports sales of 7,400 motorcycles and scooters in August 2012, a company record for the month and an 11.3% increase from the 6,646 units sold in August 2011 and 14.7% more than the 6,405 units sold in August 2010.

The historic race first-ever World Superbike Championship round in Russia provided plenty of drama with several top riders crashing out of both races and a new leader emerge in the chase for the 2012 WSBK Championship. Superpole qualifying made for four different manufacturers lining up in the first row of the grid, with Carlos Checa taking pole position for Althea Ducati ahead of Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes, Aprilia‘s Eugene Laverty and BMW rider Leon Haslam. A slightly damp and unfamiliar track likely contributed to a number of crashes and collisions.

BMW reported a 8.9% decrease in motorcycle sales revenue over the second quarter of 2012 but still managed a 1.3% increase over the first half. According to German manufacturer’s second quarter report, the BMW and Husqvarna combined for 410 million euros (US$507.7 million) in revenue over the second quarter ended June 30, 2012, a decrease from the 450 million euros reported in the same period last year. Revenues for the first half totaled 858 million euros (US$1.06 billion), a 1.3% year-over-year increase from 847 million euros.
