Up for bids is a 1980 BMW R100RT 1000cc boxer sport touring twin. This machine was brought into our shop for an oil change by a customer who had just purchased it. Sadly, the customer died while the bike was here......it wasn't here THAT long. Has had the following done recently within 20 miles or so: New Dunlop D404 tires & tubes; 100/90/19 front; 110/90/18 rear; $301.00 combined retail New Brown (brand) side stand; $160 retail Oil & filter change; $45.00 combined retail New aftermarket wind screen We looked over the bike quickly in order to prepare for selling it. It needs: Rear shocks shot.....will INCLUDE a believed to be good used pair off the same model Rear brake disc and left front brake disc are worn Will need a battery but we jumped it and were able to ride the machine Seems to run and drive OK, engine sounds good Krauser bags in decent shape, but WILL NOT FIT because the mufflers have been changed to aftermarket and they're too high We have the lower center fairing piece that is missing in the picture. The bike also has a Reynolds ride-off centerstand and a Reynolds rear rack with Krauser trip trunk. We also have the original right-hand inner fairing pocket lid. Has aftermarket pocket lids. Had a radio in the left pocket at one time and there is a hole drilled in the fairing for an antenna. The bike has a lot of scuffs and scratches, but nothing major is broken. 2006 BMW R1150R with hard cases (2006)
I bought this bike at Newmarket Motorad in October of 2010 and it had full servicing done on it then. It had 40687 kms when I bought it and now has just over 43300 on it. I bought an oil change kit including oil, filter, ring and wrench that comes with the bike. I have owners manual as well. I has BMW side hard bags that use the ignition key and a Kanna rear hard bag that has a separate key. All bags are removable. The one bag has a sticker that says "Old Guys Rule". The bike comes with two keys. Leo Vince slip on exhaust, I lowered the pegs since I am just over 6'1" and the handles bars were pushed back when I bought the back. It has a windshield that I meant to take off and heated grips for those cold mornings. Only premium fuel put in it and stabilizer in winters when stored in my heated garage. The thermometer on the bike said 4 degrees when it was minus 40 with wind chill outside. Side stand and center stand. A choke on it for colder mornings. Great riding bike for comfort and balance. Its a beautiful example of BMW engineering being naked showing off the engine. Any questions or offers can be emailed. I do prefer a sale somewhat close since I live north of Toronto, Ontario. Many after market extras. New windshield, leather seats, Jessie Bags, crash bar, new grips, LED dash lamps. Well maintained and runs great. Overall great condition. There are some very minor scratches on the tank, and some rust in the joints of the handlebars. The seat is aftermarket leather and it is a little worn, but is still in relativity good shape and firm. BMW R69S 1966 Restored (1966)
This is a 1966 BMW R69S sport model. The engine, frame and ID tag ALL have matching numbers 661164 and comes with a title. This motorcycle has just had a complete restoration by a certified BMW mechanic who has had many years of experience in restorations. The engine, transmission and final drive (gear ratio 25/8) were completely rebuilt with ALL new bearings and seals. The engine had the slingers cleaned. Anything that needed to be replaced was replaced if not within specs. The carburetors (matching and correct R69S) were cleaned, blasted and rebuilt. The frame and frontend was bead blasted and powder coated black. The frame has the tapered steering head bearings installed. All of the hardware was cad plated and anything that was chromed was rechromed. It has a NEW wiring harness. The sheet metal was in very nice condition and needed very minimal work. It was bead blasted and painted with a single stage black paint and was hand pinstriped like they were originally. The fuel tank is the large “sport tank” and the inside is perfect. The rims are the “Weinmann” aluminum and were laced with Buchannan stainless spokes. The exhaust is NEW reproduction, but is very nice. The speedometer is not the original one, as I had the original sent out to get rebuilt but that never happened so I got it back. I will include the original speedometer which is complete but needs to be rebuilt. I will also leave the current speedometer in the bucket. This motorcycle runs great and is very smooth and quiet. It has less than 50 miles on it since the rebuild and restoration. I really don’t want to sell this bike, but I live on a gravel road and I refuse to ride this beautiful machine down a gravel road. 2012-2013 BMW S1000RR Recalled for Loose Side Stands
Mon, 17 Dec 2012BMW has initiated a recall on the 2012 and 2013 S1000RR because the side stands may not have been correctly installed. According to Transport Canada, the side stand attachment bolts may loosen, causing an S1000RR to fall over while resting on the stand. At the moment, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has yet to announce a recall, but American members of Motorcycle.com‘s S1000RR Forum say U.S.
2013 BMW C600 Sport Fairing Recall Extended to US
Mon, 10 Dec 2012Last week, Transport Canada issued a recall on the 2013 BMW C600 Sport due to a risk of the scooter’s side fairings coming loose at high speeds. The recall has now reached the U.S., with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also announcing a recall. According to documents released by NHTSA, the three “snap-lock” fasteners securing the left and right side trim panels may not have sufficient strength to hold the fairing in place at speeds higher than 100 mph.
2013 BMW C600 Sport Recalled in Canada for Loose Fairings

According to Transport Canada, the fairing side panels on certain BMW C600 Sport scooters can loosen and detach while moving at very high speeds. In such a situation, the detached fairing poses a hazard to the rider and passenger as well as other vehicles and bystanders.
BMW to Partner with India’s TVS Motor Company

The partnership, expected to be finalized before the end of March, would see TVS receive access to BMW technology while the German manufacturer would increase its footprint in the world’s second most-populated nation. TVS is one of India’s largest manufacturers but it has recently slipped to fourth from third behind Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and Honda.
BMW Reportedly Developing 450cc Racebike

According to the report, the new track-only sportbike will use a 450cc single-cylinder engine, likely the Husqvarna-developed version of the engine used in the BMW G450X. The engine will be mounted in an all-new chassis with racing suspension, wheels and carbon fiber fairing.

European Parliament Makes ABS Mandatory, Tighten Emissions Standards by 2016
Wed, 21 Nov 2012The European Parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of new rules that would increase emission standards and make anti-lock braking systems mandatory for all new large motorcycles, scooters and trikes and quads by 2016. The new regulations, which would still need approval from European Union member states, may only directly affect Europe, but they will have a wide-reaching affect on manufacturers’ product development for other markets. BMW, for example, has already made ABS standard for all its motorcycles for 2013.
