1978 Kawasaki KZ650 SR (1978)
I'd hate to sell this beautiful classic motorcycle, but need to make room for other things. This bike needs nothing. This year the carbs were ultrasonically cleaned and synched. The tank was cleaned and coated with Kleen. I also put new steering bearings, upgraded to All Balls needle bearings instead of the crappy ball bearings they came with. It has fresh oil in the engine and in the down tubes. New plugs and air filter. Tires have a few hundred miles in them. It also comes with shorter chrome shocks if you wish to lower it. The stock shocks are 13" and the shorter ones are 11". The paint is the original 35 year old paint and it still shines. The tank has a few minor dings (you'd have to look for them) and the clearcoat has faded a little bit in some areas. Like I said, it needs nothing, just a rider. When I purchased the bike it needed a little bit of attention so here is what I've done to it: It has a new seat, new rear grab bar, and had a professional paint job put on it that is fantastic- looks awesome! It has complete airbox system and owner's manual. I replaced the header with a set of very nice stock exhaust from a '79 KZ 1000, they look great on the bike. 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000, I have owned this bike since 1994, nearly 30 years. I have decided to sell because I don't ride it at all anymore and someone should enjoy this bike. It has sat unused for too long and needs to appreciated by a new owner. I have set a reserve that is very reasonable when considering all the extra parts you are getting. I had the bike tuned and running last summer, rode it 2X's and it has been sitting since. I tried to start bike yesterday, battery was dead, I tried kick starting it for about 15 minutes and gave up. I am done with messing with it. It will run with very little effort. I am selling a huge collection of parts with the bike as well. Everything goes as a package deal. Many original parts are included in sale. Bike comes with nearly all the parts to put it back to showroom stock if you choose to go that route except, handlebars, exhaust, and air cleaner. Bike is mainly stock with some bolt-ons: Vance and Hines exhaust, Dyna Ignition and coils, K&N Air filters, Braided Steel brake Lines, Corbin seat, etc. Engine internals are stock: only 19K miles on engine. I am positive of it. Bike is complete. It is painted with a very deep purple PPG custom color. looks black until you get it into sunlight, then you can see the candy color. Bike currently has spoked wheels on it, but comes with aluminum mag-style wheels. One of the rear wheels is from a Police KZ1000 and worth a few $$$'s. this is a high quality restoration for some reason the camera doesn't catch an effect that the paint has, it needs to be seen in person, I will try to list everything that has been done. dealer installed steering stabilizer and oil cooler, Bridgestone battleax tires rims converted to tubeless and powder coated, all balls wheel and steering bearings, machined rotors and new pads, rebuilt calipers and rear master cylinder, new old stock front master cylinder assembly, Goodrich ss brake lines and fittings, dot 5 fluid, kyb reservoir shocks with lighter 1 up springs, progressive fork springs new fork seals and dust shields, tarozzi fork brace and rear sets, kerker megaphone with ceramic coated head pipe and comp.baffle xoring chain and sprockets, powder coated calipers frame fork legs engine side covers and valve cover, dyna ignition and coils, msd wires, agm battery, solid state rectifier, web 3x cams degreed in, lots of porting work, stock pistons, 34mm mikuni flat slides, k&n super pods pingle petcock, polished ss and chrome hardware euro badges. this runs and drives like a dream, it pufs a little oil when it has been sitting a week or so most likely old valve seals, the engine work was done in the late 80s before I bought it.2016-08-05 04:46:03Danville, New Hampshire, United States1714000 -
