Had a $1200 service by Honda before being parked several years ago THEN I purchased it and performed the following work: New MAC 4 into 2 exhaust (like stock) New CR smoothbore carbs w/ NOS intake manifolds (absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to find for an A) including remote idle screw adjustment for warming up. NOS King/Queen seat New battery Took apart, detailed, polished and waxed everything as you can see bike is nearly immaculate original condition DID square shoulder type rims w/no corrosion, tank is perfect inside and out, bikes starts immediately and sounds AWESOME! NOTES: Bike has original 1977 dealer installed options as follows; VETTER Windjammer in perfect condition, pockets are intact no rot, fiberglass perfect windscreen clear, and have ORIGINAL VETTER MANUAL; luggage rack and adjustable backrest with HONDA on it, slides forward for driver without passenger; highway bar with pegs; locking cruise control, SHOE fiberglass saddlebags in good restorable condition.

The ultimate dual sport machine, rides like a champ solo without the sidecar, smooth like a sewing machine, keeps up with modern bikes easily. Attach the sidecar and now you have fun for the whole family. This dream team of bike and sidecar has been a real love affair for the past 8 years that I am really hoping someone else can take over. A great machine and rig, moving forces sale, it is only a few steps from perfection. As you can see, the bike has been kept as completely original as possible. Always garaged, no rust, look at those pipes! The front forks have been rebuilt with Progressive springs and it has Progressive rear shocks. Recently serviced with new battery, rear Metzler tire (the front Metzler has maybe 1000 miles on it) brake shoes and Tsubaki chain. Front brakes were done last year along with professional seat recovering. It starts up easily (see the video) once warm idles smoothly at about 1100 rpm without any choke, the carbs were rebuilt 5 years ago. Gas tank has been sealed with POR15 which has been holding up brilliantly. I have done most of the work myself, but have also been blessed with an older mechanic at a local dealership who has one himself at home and knows how to work on the bike. 1977 Honda CB750K with sidecar (youtube.com) Sidecar is a Spirit of America California Sidecar; produced from 1971 to 1975, the magnesium wheel was only available during the later years of production, unable to date any more precisely since they did not produce with serial numbers. I had the wheel vapor blasted and sealed with urethane. I stripped the frame to bare metal, then seal with POR. It has a new shock and new seat and new Heidenau tire. I have had precision bearings pressed into the wheel. It also come with a new Gustafson windscreen, which is not yet been attached. Lights on sidecar are cross wired into CB to share braking and turn signaling The front fender of the sidecar has a partial thickness crack which does not affect car in any way (see pic) entire body is fiberglass for easy repair. Fabrication of the mounts on the CB (which can be easily removed) was done by Stace Welding & Metal Fabrication. I have attached an additional headlight wiring harness to add an additional headlight onto the sidecar if desired, plug and play easy to remove. I have the bike registered, you can run the VIN to see it's clean, but I do not have a title because Connecticut will not title any vehicle over 25 years old. Happy to ship the bike using any service you like. I would consider delivering here in the Tri State area for a negotiable fee. Hate to sell, but health issues forces me to sell my toys and projects. Bike was professionally hardtailed, not a cheap weld on kit. Custom paint, that must be seen to appreciate, TC Bros apes, bike is kick start only, starts on the first time, most times. Ive ridden this bike on 2000 mile long trips without a single issue. Fresh tune up this spring, bike runs really well. And has lots of power. Im 6-1 200lbs and fits me well. Has forward controls from TC Bros also. Has descent rubber on it. Good for another season. Miles on bike are unknown. No speedo or odometer. I wouldn't even guess. But its a Honda. Most of bike has been blacked out.

For Sale is a 1977 Honda CB400F in about 99% original condition with 3,366 miles. It will be hard to find one as original as this. The only aftermarket items now installed are crash bars, air cushion handle grips and a throttle lock, that's it. I purchased this bike in July 1979 with 1,119 miles. This bike has been in storage for more than 34 years with a squirt of Marvel Mystery Oil in each cylinder and the carbs and gas tank drained. Storage started with it wrapped in plastic and stored in my barn. I have kept it always thinking I would ride again or in my older years or stick it on the back of a motor home for local transportation. Now I'm older, none of that happened, so its time for it to go. Everything is original except for the battery, one turn signal and the tail light lens to get an inspection sticker (original lens is available with a broken clear plate lens). The tires are original, still hold full pressure from year to year and are in great shape. Engine oil has been changed but it still is black from the remnants of ARCO Graphite oil that I used back then. (I still have 10 quarts of the stuff if the buyer wants it.) Unfortunately with so many years of unmonitored storage, some of the plastic wrap deteriorated unnoticed and as a result of typical New England cold to warm humid air changes, there is some pitting of the chrome. Most of it cleaned-up but there is some blister pitting especially on the rear fender, tail light bracket, chain guard and the aftermarket crash bars (see photos). Some of the silver engine paint has also failed. There is a series of scratches in a small area on the front fender (photo) that were there when I got it. Also, in the fall of 1981, as a result of hitting an oil slick during a turn at an intersection, there is some road rash on the headlight rim, tachometer base, brake fluid reservoir and the underside of one exhaust pipe (see photos)(not to mention a separated shoulder). Also, one turn signal had to be replaced. I never registered it again until 2014. Since uncovering it and cleaning it up two years ago (3,283 miles), I have ridden it each year only for required inspection and around the block to make sure all is still OK. It runs great, looks great, sounds great and still goes like hell for its size.

By John Burns 1990 Honda ST1100 begat 2003 Honda ST1300, which begat 2014 Honda CTX1300… which at some point in the last few years seems to have gone, mercifully, the way of all flesh. Now if it’s a Honda sport tourer you crave, it’s the Gold Wing or, well, that’s about it. Anyway, the big 1261cc V-four ST1300 was quite the long-distance mile muncher 20 years ago.
