Honda CB description

1977 HONDA CB750F, 1977 CB750F2, The original Black Beauty. This is a true gem. survivor by definition. Was purchased from the original owner who rode it all of 1179 miles before parking it in a corner of his machine shop for 37 years. The original leaded gasoline protected the carbs. A simple disassembly and cleaning and rebuild with original Honda parts was all that was necessary to get them breathing properly again. We synchronized the carbs and then ran all of the gas out of them, as, this is not a bike that will get much actual street riding time. But just add gas and you can ride this wonderful machine anywhere. The most amazing part of this motorcycle is the rubber and plastic parts. Everything looks and feels as it did when new. The the oil rich atmosphere in the machine shop did a great job of preserving the bike. There was a layer of oil/dust on the entire motorcycle about an 1/8 of an inch thick. Exhaust is extra clean with no dings or rust anywhere. all of the smal rubber and plastic pieces found throughout the bikes when new are all there and in great shape. The factory tires are still on the bike -FREE FROM DRY ROT. Amazingly there is no cracking or splitting on either of the tires. I would not recommend using the factory tires for anything other than a quick spin around the block. Although no dry rot can be seen, rubber will harden over time and lose its ability to stick to the road. I can't imagine you will get much traction out of these after 37 years. The gauges are amazing. I have seen many, many of these honda clocks and never realized that the redline on the tach was actually a bright red, instead of the faded shades of orange that they ALL turn with exposure to light over the years. These clocks were covered in a layer of dust and grease for 37 years. tool kit, owners manual, dealer brochure and docs all under the seat. That is mostly the good, now the bad. However minute, here it is at face value; fuel tank - the carbs were spared, but the tank was not. the combination of gas and air in the tank over the years ate its way through the bottom of the tank and it was too far gone to repair. I took a tank off of a 76 which is almost identical and fit perfectly and had it painted in the bikes original black. I'm less that satisfied with the outcome of the paint job and the factory stickers were no longer available. i purchased a set of reproductions for this specific bike, but the stripe just did not come out to my liking so, I decided to leave it off the bike. I found a gentleman in Texas who specializes in classic Honda reproduction paint work of the highest quality. If the bike does not meet the reserve, I will probably send the tank and bodywork to him. The left side cover has a broken tab when it came back from painting. The seat is almost perfect .There is a minute scratch on the left side that I did my best to show in the pics. One of the mirrors was missing and i boutght an original replacement that is slightly different

NZ Superbike Series Points Leader Is A Grandfather Of Three!

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

Dennis Charlett is stamping his authority on the New Zealand Superbike championship. The 45 year-old father of five and grandfather of three (no, those aren’t typos) won the first three races of the season during the series opener in Christchurch, placing him firmly at the top of the points standings heading into round two at Levels Raceway, near Timaru. The championship favorite certainly got the wake-up call as Taupo’s Suzuki rider Scott Moir raced to a convincing win in Saturday’s Superbike race, while Charlett was forced to settle for fourth place.
