1978 Yamaha SR500 (1978)
This is a restored/modified 1978 Yamaha SR500, the famous street version of the 500cc thumpers also built for TT, XT offroad models. I bought the bike about 6 months ago from an Ebay seller on the East Coast who had just completed the restoration, and have since put 34 miles on it. The mileage is estimated - the new gauges and speedo read 34 miles.2016-10-30 04:41:15Carlsbad, California, United States264,800.00

1978 Yamaha SR500 (1978)
Up for sale is my near mint 1978 Yamaha SR500. I've absolutely loved owning and riding this bike, however I'm moving to the mountains in Utah and it won't get the attention it deserves. It has always been garaged and has less than 16,000 miles on it (I have put 1,500 miles on it since I purchased it 2 years ago) and has less than 20 miles since its last service. Here is a video of a walk around: https://youtu.be/oFYYhUo6o3U The title is clear, the registration is paid through April 2017 and it comes with the custom vanity plate "SEVNT8". I have never had any issues with it and everything runs absolutely great.2016-08-03 04:55:19Beverly Hills, California, United States1512000

1978 Yamaha SR500 (1978)
Engine is stock, except the carburetor, a mechanical slide instead of that thing with the "accelerator pump diaphram", the pipe is stainless; a true Thruxton bend for those of us who actually know the difference, and a K&N air filter. The cam chain was recently replaced and it was noted that the piston was a first over (which make actual mileage of the engine hard to know). The frame has been modified with limited steering lock, and cut at the rear to accommodate the Matchless G50 replica seat, the rest is stock. Clip-ons are Tomaselli, headlight is stock, with Omega Racer Gold Star replica mounts, tail light and reverse cone megaphone are EMGO products, the rear hub is from an XT500. The front brake master cylinder is Nissin/Kawasaki with a black stainless line that negated the brake light switch junction block.2016-07-19 04:47:08Austin, Texas, United States2115000

1979 Yamaha SR500 (1979)
1979 Yamaha SR500 This SR was purchased from the original owner and came with several other bikes and parts. This particular bike he had started to make the bike into a cafe motorcycle. Since this one came with a clean original Pennsylvania title I decided to finish what he started. I like to keep this simple as possible and as clean as possible when doing any custom work.2016-10-09 04:39:57West Chester, Pennsylvania, United States144,999.00

1979 Yamaha SR500 (1979)
I purchased three motorcycles from an elderly friend recently. This 1979 Yamaha SR500, a 1955 pre-unit Triumph T110 and a 1971 Norton Commando. The Norton and Triumph will be listed on separate auctions.2016-07-04 04:52:07Linwood, Kansas, United States2510000

1979 Yamaha SR500 (1979)
Excellent, mostly original Yamaha SR500F. 16,463 miles. SuperTrapp exhaust. Newer Progressive 14 series rear shocks. I am third owner. To my knowledge, the bike has never been dropped. Original paint, good but not perfect (see pics). The seat cover is probably not original. KICK START ONLY! Usually starts first kick IF the starting procedure outlined in the owner's manual is followed. Runs great. No oil leaks. Extras include: Original owners manual and tools, original dealer brochure, Bound Ian Smith collection of SR500 test reports, three service manuals, correct Yamaha luggage rack (not installed) and engine guards (not installed). The buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup or shipping.2016-06-29 04:56:24Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States1614000

1981 Yamaha sr500 (1981)
1971 sr 500 thumper parts or project bike, I bought this 4 or 5 years ago at mid ohio for a project, never touched it. CLEAN TITLE in my name, it has the wrong forks and wheels on it just to roll it, I have two sets of sr forks, two sets of sr wheels, nice gauges, good gas tank and rear seat panel, still turns over. wiring looks all there, stock exhaust plus another down pipe and megaphone style muffler, lots of small parts I have around here to.2016-11-22 04:43:29Noblesville, Indiana, United States33700.00

2024 Yamaha MT-09 SP Review – First Ride
Wed, 28 Aug 2024Better suspension and Track mode brings us so close to an R9 Photos by Dave Schelske As the tail rider in a train of approximately seven identical Yamahas, I couldn’t help but watch in awe as each of us weaved our way through the notorious Tail of the Dragon, bending the bike underneath us to our will through the 120-something corners, the unison of the dance mesmerizing as each of us took our turn, one by one, around each apex, at irresponsible speeds, front wheels inches away from the person in front of us. This is the kind of trust you build up after you’ve ridden with the same group of people for years on end. We all know that riding with your friends is fun.

2024 Yamaha MT-09 Review – First Ride
Tue, 14 May 2024More minor changes in anticipation of the R9 Photos by Joseph Agustine. There really wasn’t a reason to update Yamaha’s MT-09. We love the MT-09, and apparently you do too – it’s been Yamaha’s best-selling MT model for a decade.
2024 Yamaha Ténéré 700 First Ride
Wed, 13 Dec 2023Small updates keep the T7 fresh, but we're still missing out on the European variants Photos by Yamaha/Joseph Agustin Photo Yamaha’s popular Ténéré 700 “T7” adventure bike returns for 2024, and while it would be easy to say it is “largely unchanged” from the 2023 model, there have been some notable changes made in response to feedback from many North American riders. One wish still unrealized: the U.S. dealers won’t be getting the up-spec World Raid and numerous other versions of the T7 the EU enjoys - at least not this year.

2024 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ Review
Thu, 17 Aug 2023Riding 950 miles across three states in two days highlights this Tracer’s capabilities Photography by Joseph Augustin New motorcycle model introductions follow a well-worn path: travel to the event location, eat nice meals, get briefed on the bike of the moment, ride a route designed to highlight the bike’s strengths, take photos/video, eat more good food, return home, and write up a review. After 27 years in this industry, I still get a cheap thrill about throwing a leg over a new motorcycle before it is available to the general public. However, what really gets me going is when I have a chance to log more than just the couple of hundred miles typically covered in an intro and spend some real time on the road with said bike.
2023 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ Review – First Ride
Thu, 18 May 2023Yamaha’s sports tourer middleweight receives an influx of technology for 2023 Astute readers are probably wondering why Motorcycle.com is publishing a First Ride of a bike that’s not coming to the States this model year. Our reasoning is that, thanks to the sleuthing of Dennis Chung, we suspect the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ will be coming to the U.S. in 2024.
Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ Finally Coming to US for 2024
Thu, 06 Apr 2023Sport-tourer equipped with radar-based adaptive cruise control Last November, Yamaha Motor Europe revealed a new Tracer 9 GT+ at EICMA, a new version of its Triple-powered sport tourer equipped with a 7-inch TFT display, adaptive cruise control, and a radar-linked unified braking system. Yamaha Motor USA, however, remained quiet about it, and we later learned the Tracer 9 GT+ was not coming to the States for 2023. In fact, even the less techy regular Tracer 9 was left out of Yamaha Motor USA’s returning model announcements.
Yamaha MT-10 SP Project Bike - Update 1
Thu, 26 Jan 2023Everythings installed and initial impressions. It’s been about a month since we introduced Motorcycle.com’s 2022 Yamaha MT-10 SP semi-long-term project bike. In case you forgot the premise of this whole thing, Yamaha offered us the opportunity to hang on to an MT-10 SP for an extended period of time, and since I have a soft spot for the bike, I decided to give it some tasteful upgrades to address some key weaknesses while also unleashing some trapped potential.
Introducing Motorcycle.com's 2022 Yamaha MT-10 SP Semi Long Term Bike
Tue, 20 Dec 2022Tasteful mods and curvy miles are in store. Credit: Photos by Joseph Agustin (Lead Photo) Long-term test bikes aren’t something we normally do here at Motorcycle.com, but when Yamaha’s PR guy Gerrad Capley said I could take the MT-10 SP home after the press intro, it was an offer that was hard to resist. When I asked him how long I could have it, he basically shrugged his shoulders and winked.
