Yamaha SR500 description

This is a restored/modified 1978 Yamaha SR500, the famous street version of the 500cc thumpers also built for TT, XT offroad models. I bought the bike about 6 months ago from an Ebay seller on the East Coast who had just completed the restoration, and have since put 34 miles on it. The mileage is estimated - the new gauges and speedo read 34 miles. That's the reason I'm selling it - just can't find the time to get on the bike. It is a super fun ride, has been updated with lots of new parts - tires, chain, brakes, paint and a number of customizations and extensive restoration, and I don't think it needs anything mechanically. I have not registered it in California, but I can work with whatever needs to be done with the registration. I can deliver the bike in a reasonable area around North County San Diego and I had it shipped in a few days when I bought it from the seller on the East Coast, so that is an option too. With the two test riders coming forward to act as replacement riders for the injured Rossi and Aoyama, it brought back memories of the days when the grid would be gifted with wildcard riders from the respective countries. The Japanese rounds were always attended by some of the top guys with experience of the 500GP and MotoGP bikes, through racing them in their domestic championships. What resulted was getting to witness the exciting and talented Japanese riders, and bring new riders to the attention of the teams.

Yamaha to Open Plant in Pakistan

Yamaha is reportedly planning to open a new manufacturing facility in Pakistan. According to the Associated Press of Pakistan, Yamaha would invest $150 million in the new 50 acre facility, to be located in Karachi, Pakistan’s main seaport and financial hub. The plant would produce motorcycles for the Pakistani market, as well as models to be exported to other Commonwealth of Independent States nations.

Cyril Despres beat his teammate Marc Coma to win his fourth Dakar Rally, while KTM captured its 11th consecutive win in the 33rd running of the off-road race. Despres won three stages and finished the 5,214-mile race in South America in a total time of 43 hours, 28 minutes and 11 seconds. Despres crossed the finish in Lima, Peru, with a lead of 53 minutes and 20 seconds ahead of his fellow Red Bull KTM rider Coma.
