    Cleaning out the garage - I'm downsizing to a condominium and the bikes have to go.  I am the 2nd owner of this bike which I bought in 2004 from a private party with 4K miles on it.  I added the BMW right & left system cases and wider & taller windscreen from Wunderlich.  It has normal wear & tear but no damage (never been down) and everything works as it should.  It's due for new tires (last new set went on 7K miles ago); still some tread there but I did have to plug a hole in the rear recently so it's a good idea to replace both.  Bike may have a few more miles on it when you get it as it is my daily driver to and from work weather permitting (~12 miles round  trip).   On Sep-18-13 at 01:59:50 PDT, seller added the following information: This bike is equipped with ABS brakes.

     Many after market extras.  New windshield, leather seats, Jessie Bags, crash bar, new grips, LED dash lamps.  Well maintained and runs great.  Overall great condition.  There are some very minor scratches on the tank, and some rust in the joints of the handlebars.  The seat is aftermarket leather and it is a little worn, but is still in relativity good shape and firm. The bike has been dealer (have receipts)//user maintained and runs great there are no mechanical problems.  The tires have quite a bit of tread left.  I am the second owner and have the original owners manual a two keys.  Had BMW dealer perform thorough inspection at 57,434 miles.  59,561 miles now.     This is a 1966 BMW R69S sport model.  The engine, frame and ID tag ALL have matching numbers 661164 and comes with a title.  This motorcycle has just had a complete restoration by a certified BMW mechanic who has had many years of experience in restorations.  The engine, transmission and final drive (gear ratio 25/8) were completely rebuilt with ALL new bearings and seals.  The engine had the slingers cleaned.  Anything that needed to be replaced was replaced if not within specs.  The carburetors (matching and correct R69S) were cleaned, blasted and rebuilt.  The frame and frontend was bead blasted and powder coated black.  The frame has the tapered steering head bearings installed.  All of the hardware was cad plated and anything that was chromed was rechromed.  It has a NEW wiring harness.  The sheet metal was in very nice condition and needed very minimal work.  It was bead blasted and painted with a single stage black paint and was hand pinstriped like they were originally.  The fuel tank is the large “sport tank” and the inside is perfect.  The rims are the “Weinmann” aluminum and were laced with Buchannan stainless spokes.  The exhaust is NEW reproduction, but is very nice.  The speedometer is not the original one, as I had the original sent out to get rebuilt but that never happened so I got it back.  I will include the original speedometer which is complete but needs to be rebuilt.  I will also leave the current speedometer in the bucket.  This motorcycle runs great and is very smooth and quiet.  It has less than 50 miles on it since the rebuild and restoration.  I really don’t want to sell this bike, but I live on a gravel road and I refuse to ride this beautiful machine down a gravel road.  This is sold “as is” with no warranty.  A non-refundable deposit of $500.00  is due to my PayPal account within 24 hours of the auction end.  The balance is due by wire transfer or bank check upon picking up the motorcycle.  I can assist with loading the bike or any other way that you may need.  Please ask any and all questions…you may call me direct 952.994.8411…Thank you

    This motorcycle needs to used.  I have owned it 1988.  It came from “Cue” at House of Triumph in Elmsford NY with 68,000 miles on the clock..  It has always been my second bike, lightly used and garaged.  Weekend  rides have added about 6000 miles.  It now shows just over 74,000 miles.  In the fall of 2011 it underwent substantial mechanical restoration at Max BMW (Brookfield Ct)  which included rebuilding carburetors, draining and cleaning fuel tank, new brake pads and rotors at the front and new brake shoes at the rear,  new center stand, air filters, new throttle and choke cables,  new horns, new fluids (fork, brakes,  new top-end seals.  Total investment was $5100.  It has a fork brace, café faring, original grips, lots of tread on Metzler tires.  “Easy Clutch” is installed.     This bike is like brand new and is hard to find in pristine condition with low miles.   Of course, you will find a few minor blemishes and nicks here and there due to normal riding.  I tried to show those in the pics.  Clean title, single-owner.   This bike does NOT have ABS brakes. Has always been stored indoors. Has heated grips for when the weather gets colder.   Everything is absolutely up to date and bike is running perfectly except for the front tire.  You may get just  a few hundred miles left unless you ride in the rain (I never did), then I would replace it ASAP.   Hard to imagine a better bike.   Sadly, the bike fell over once in my garage.  Replaced left kick stand, brake handle and shifter.  That was a sad day.   Bike has had all its scheduled services done at a BMW licensed dealer/mechanic and is in absolutely perfect working order.  I have all the maintenance receipts.  The bike only required one repair to the fuel line quick-disconnects.  They were replaced by me.

BMW Announces Recall Campaign for K1600 Family Motorcycles

The recall concerns all 2019-2020 BMW K1600 models due to the risk of rear suspension link failure caused by a manufacturing defect - the strength of the part does not meet the factory requirements. This linkage may be destroyed during normal road use, causing the rear of the motorcycle to fall onto the rear wheel. BMW dealers this spring will begin notifying owners of motorcycles that are subject of the recall campaign to visit an authorized dealership for a rear suspension linkage replacement.

For 2022, the K1600 range will again consist of the sportier K1600GT, the more touring-focused K1600GTL and the streamlined K1600B bagger. The K1600 Grand America also returns as an optional package for the K1600B.

Euro 5 updates and more for six-cylinder K bikes The R18 Transcontinental and R18 Bagger have been getting a lot of attention lately, as BMWs foray into large-displacement cruiser touring segment. Getting somewhat lost, however, are BMWs existing K1600 range, which used to be the companys representatives in the touring category. While still part of BMWs lineup, the six-cylinder models have not been updated since the 2017 model year, not even receiving any changes to meet Euro 5 standards that came into effect last year.
