Beautifully restored 1982 Yamaha Yz60, completely dissasembled and redone. Frame was sandblasted and painted, everything else sandblasted and powder coated. Matching motor and frame numbers of 5X1-000595, one of the earlier builds. New front tire and tube, new rear tire and tube. New clutch discs and engine oil.. New front sprocket and chain. Rear sprocket was not available, current one in great condition, and was cleaned and powder coated. New seat cover, new OEM style wicked tough graphics. New scott handgrips. Carburator was cleaned with new needle valve installed, new fuel petcock, new gas lines. New fork seals and fork oil. New clutch and brake levers. Runs and drives excellent and looks like new. Plastic all completely sanded down, cleaned and reheated for shine, in great original condition. Every nut and bolt was cleaned and coated, it looks like new. The Yz60 had a very short 3 year run, and are getting very difficult to find, let alone in this condition.. $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auction end, full payment due within 48 hours of auction end, anything other then that must be talked about ahead of time. Up for auction is a 1981 Yamaha yz465 I bought this bike 2 months ago with the intension of restoring it but plans have change. The bike is pretty much complete it does not run this is the way I bought the bike and I never did anything with it. I have some parts that go with it they are pictured. I have a Manual, wheel bearings, empty wiseco piston box and small misc parts. The owner before me bought a plastic kit for it, and its supposed to have a new piston in the motor I cant confirm but the box is there and it has very good compression. The rims are straight and the forks have no pitting on the chrome overall the bike is in decent shape for its age. There is no title for this bike. Unfinished project - 1980 Yamaha YZ 465 Good running old bike, I've had this bike for about 5 years, and I have installed new handlebars, grips, clutch and throttle cable, fork seals, wiseco, 1.0 mm piston kit, folding shifter, oversized foot pegs, clutch extension arm, DG silencer, new rear wheel bearings, new clutch plates, and new air filter, new seat cover, had O ring chain and good sprockets on it when I bought it. The frame is slightly bent at rear fender mounts and has been welded on some. The bike is no show bike but is mechanically sound. Here is the story on this bike: I’m 62 years old. I retired from my job a few years ago. I thought that I might try a little post-vintage racing. My wife and I recently went to a race and, while we were watching, we saw a +70 rider take a dirt nap in the first turn. My wife turned to me and said, “See that! You always used to land on your head when you crashed. I think you’ve had enough concussions from the last time you tried motorcycle racing.” To which I replied, “What’s your name, again?” (True story) So, here is my would-be post-vintage racer for sale. It is a 1979 YZ 250. I have owned this bike for a number of years, and only ridden up and down my driveway a couple of times (Making the video made three times.). I put a new piston and ring in it when I got it, and replaced a lot of parts. It has been sitting in my garage since then. Here is a partial list of the new parts: New Fork Seals, New Fork Wipers, New Front Tire, New Front Fender, New Pro Taper Handlebars, New Front Brake Cable, New Throttle Cable, New Clutch Cable, New Front Brake Lever, New Clutch Lever, New Grips, New Piston and Rings (less than an hour on the new top end), New Front Number Plate, New Side Panels, New Rear Fender, New Rear Tire, New Air Filter, New Wide Footpegs. The frame and cases were painted with automotive urethane based paint (it won’t peel off when gas is spilled on it). Hubs were painted with black enamel. The bike also has an after-market pipe, and a period correct DG silencer. The wheels are in good condition as is the suspension. The graphic on the tank is probably as old as the bike and has more wear and ripples than are evident in the photos. The bike is fast (too fast for me), and ready to race. As with most bikes this age, there is no title--Bill of Sale only. Although I have tried to accurately represent this motorcycle, it is almost 40 years old, and I make no guarantees as to performance or durability. Wed, 28 Aug 2024Better suspension and Track mode brings us so close to an R9 Photos by Dave Schelske As the tail rider in a train of approximately seven identical Yamahas, I couldn’t help but watch in awe as each of us weaved our way through the notorious Tail of the Dragon, bending the bike underneath us to our will through the 120-something corners, the unison of the dance mesmerizing as each of us took our turn, one by one, around each apex, at irresponsible speeds, front wheels inches away from the person in front of us. This is the kind of trust you build up after you’ve ridden with the same group of people for years on end. We all know that riding with your friends is fun.

Thu, 17 Aug 2023Riding 950 miles across three states in two days highlights this Tracer’s capabilities Photography by Joseph Augustin New motorcycle model introductions follow a well-worn path: travel to the event location, eat nice meals, get briefed on the bike of the moment, ride a route designed to highlight the bike’s strengths, take photos/video, eat more good food, return home, and write up a review. After 27 years in this industry, I still get a cheap thrill about throwing a leg over a new motorcycle before it is available to the general public. However, what really gets me going is when I have a chance to log more than just the couple of hundred miles typically covered in an intro and spend some real time on the road with said bike.

Thu, 06 Apr 2023Sport-tourer equipped with radar-based adaptive cruise control Last November, Yamaha Motor Europe revealed a new Tracer 9 GT+ at EICMA, a new version of its Triple-powered sport tourer equipped with a 7-inch TFT display, adaptive cruise control, and a radar-linked unified braking system. Yamaha Motor USA, however, remained quiet about it, and we later learned the Tracer 9 GT+ was not coming to the States for 2023. In fact, even the less techy regular Tracer 9 was left out of Yamaha Motor USA’s returning model announcements.
