1942 WLA Harley-Davidson Excellent Restoration Many NOS Parts MUSEUM QUALITY (1942)
Excellent restoration. Many parts on this motorcycle are NOS. There might be a few Colony reproduction nuts and bolts on it, but minimal. Speedometer is rebuilt, looks as good as new, 0 miles on it. Only flaw I see is that the paint on the muffler needs to be touched up in one spot. Engine is as good as a new engine. I can't say enough good things about this motorcycle. Museum quality. Very detail oriented restoration.

1942 Harley Davidson WLA Flathead This bike came out of a barn in Utah, where it sat since the late 1950's, recently found in May this year. The frame, motor, forks, transmission and gas tanks were found together. It has original 18" front wheel and brake. Also, it has original 18" star hub rear wheel. I installed new tires and tubes. It has original bates solo seat. Pee Pad is not included! I custom made the handle bars. This is a perfect little bike set up for either racing on the beach or putting around town. The engine runs. I do not know what the inside of the engine looks like below the heads. I pulled the aluminum heads to look inside the cylinders and they looked good enough to run. I installed new head gaskets. Rebuilt carburetor - it is an M51. Also, has a rebuilt Joe Hunt Magneto. The bike fired right up and has been running for the last 200 miles.

It has a Police Package which is the Red and Blue Passing Lamps and the Siren, The electrical system is the original 6 Volt and all the wiring Harnesses have also been redone. It has a 3 Speed Hand Shifter and it is NOT a Suicide Clutch as you must release the Foot Clutch by pressing down on the Heel, it is a dry clutch.

This is one of the most solid sidecar bodies I've ever come across. Most all of them have had the floors replaced or the bottom is gone and need replaced. It has a couple of very small areas that could use some minor attention or just leave them alone. I would just leave them myself.The seat material is sad but you may be able to throw a blanket over them. All the brake stuff is there and nothing is cut off. All the hook ups are there except a few washers for the lower front connections. I'm selling because I found another sidecar that is closer to what I'm looking for. You can just hook-up this sidecar to your rigid frame just the way it is and be on the road with it. I can store for a reasonable amount of time or can have it delivered to Davenport AMCA meet at the end of this month for 150.00. Rare WWII 1942 U Harley Davidson 1200 CC Flathead with left handed side car and 4 speed transmission. One of 1000 sold to South African Union defense forces and delivered from 1942 to 1944 (http://samilitaryhistory.org/vol101em.html) . This Motorcycle was acquired in South Africa (SA) and shipped to the US in the late 90s for restoration. The Motorcycle was completed in the early 2000s and has been driven just over 200 miles. I recently completed a full inspection and tuning and is in prime running condition. There are a few minor paint chips (see photos) but overall in excellent condition. The Motorcycle has a current FL title and registration. I have SA shipping documentation and a copy of the SA registration. The Motor does have an incorrect engine stamp but this is documented from the engine purchase and shipment from Nicosia, Cypress to Pretoria SA in the 90’s. The Motorcycle is 80+% original including sidecar, frame, fenders, gas tanks and seat, 6 VDC operation.

1942 Harley Davidson WLA in Civilian Dress. Alot of Original parts on this bike. 45ci wla motor with aluminum heads and 3 spd transmission. Linkert m51 carb. Starts right up. Original Fenders and Tanks. Rear fender was cut and repaired by the battery box...look at pictures. Original frame and front end, wheels crash bar. Original footboards with the rivited rubber matts. Original center stand. Dash base is original but dash cover is repo. Other known repo parts are speedo, horn, headlight and taillight. The bike has been sitting for a couple years, i took it out the other day charged the battery and it started right up. It is missing the battery cover, chain guard and there is no tool box. the speedo does not appear to be hooked up either. This is a very nice bike and has the certain patina that you do not see too often anymore. REAL patina...not the fabricated kind. I do not have a title for this motorcycle, and I cannot get one due to the title laws in the State of Maine. I will provide a Registration and a Bill of Sale.
