1976 R90/6 R90 1045cc big bore from San Jose BMW Toaster Cafe builder I ship! (1976)
I am really in love with BMW airheads right now and have a couple projects going. The plan was to make this into a cafe or use the engine for another project and part out the rest. The previous owner put on a big bore kit that really gives this bike some grunt! The Mikunis could use some top end tuning but are much simpler to work over the Bings I'm used to. The body has been rattle canned and looks ok from a distance but very obvious when you get closer. For me, I'd respray if I was to keep it. There are a couple issues that are noteworthy. The bike does drip a bit of oil after being ridden. I don't know exactly where from but plan on some new gaskets if you want to fix this. The previous owner rode it like this and wasn't concerned, just kept her topped off. I'm very picky and would re seal if it was me. also, the bolt that attaches the valve cover in the center is loose. It's not needed to hold the valve cover on, but should be taken care of. Again, previous owner didn't mind, I'd prefer to fix it. I do have the speedo/tach combo if you would like to have it with the bike. The wiring is all there, just not on the bike currently. It shows 18.5K miles. The head and tail lights along with signals are working although no front signals installed. I've priced it based on the current condition and well under parts value. I'm sure the smartest thing I could do is part out the bike but It's too nice to do that. I love this style of bike, tank and especially the peanut style heads. In September, BMW announced it donated an R18 Transcontinental to be blessed by Pope Leo XIV and auctioned off to benefit children in Madagascar. That auction took place October 18 through Sotheby's at Motorworld, in Munich, Germany, with the Vatican-themed touring bike sold for 130,000 euros.

Fri, 24 Oct 2025Pricing starts at $6,599 for the base model, $7,499 for the SE version Kawasaki announced a new KLE500 adventure bike with rally-inspired styling and a lightweight chassis. The KLE fills a gap in Kawasaki’s adventure lineup between the Versys-X 300 and Versys 650, but it’s interesting the company opted against using the Versys branding on the 500. The name harkens back to the original KLE500, which was in production from 1991 until 2007 when it was replaced by the Versys 650 (which uses the model code KLE650).
