    This motorcycle needs to used.  I have owned it 1988.  It came from “Cue” at House of Triumph in Elmsford NY with 68,000 miles on the clock..  It has always been my second bike, lightly used and garaged.  Weekend  rides have added about 6000 miles.  It now shows just over 74,000 miles.  In the fall of 2011 it underwent substantial mechanical restoration at Max BMW (Brookfield Ct)  which included rebuilding carburetors, draining and cleaning fuel tank, new brake pads and rotors at the front and new brake shoes at the rear,  new center stand, air filters, new throttle and choke cables,  new horns, new fluids (fork, brakes,  new top-end seals.  Total investment was $5100.  It has a fork brace, café faring, original grips, lots of tread on Metzler tires.  “Easy Clutch” is installed.     Cleaning out the garage - I'm downsizing to a condominium and the bikes have to go.  I am the 2nd owner of this bike which I bought in 2004 from a private party with 4K miles on it.  I added the BMW right & left system cases and wider & taller windscreen from Wunderlich.  It has normal wear & tear but no damage (never been down) and everything works as it should.  It's due for new tires (last new set went on 7K miles ago); still some tread there but I did have to plug a hole in the rear recently so it's a good idea to replace both.  Bike may have a few more miles on it when you get it as it is my daily driver to and from work weather permitting (~12 miles round  trip).   On Sep-18-13 at 01:59:50 PDT, seller added the following information: This bike is equipped with ABS brakes.

    Vintage BMW classic "toaster tank" R60/5 motorcycle for sale.  This is a second owner bike, I purchased this from the son of the original owner who purchased it new in 1973.  The bike is in excellent shape, clean, in unrestored original condition.  I had the cylinders off, valves replaced, and adjusted.  Runs smooth.  Carbs were rebuilt, but still drip some gas out of the overflow.  Speedometer is not operative, so mileage is not accurate, but I probably only put a couple thousand on it since I acquired it.  I registered this motorcycle a couple years ago, but I have let it expire. Even includes the original tire hand pump and tools BMW supplied with the bike when purchased. Local pickup only.  I can assist in delivery.

Speedometer was rebuilt by Palo Alto and set at 21133 miles it now has 25751 miles.Transition was rebuilt by Engle Motors.carburetors are the new style Bings.The engine was disassembled and inspected,I replaced the rings,valves and valve springsI replaced the wheel bearings steering head bearings and swingarm bearings .     New wiring harnessAll rubber was replaced.The exhaust is reproductionPowder coated frame and swingarms.The bike was lightly crashed and has damage the valve covers,mufflers ,finder and shock tower.Tank has scratches from a magnetic tank bag.The back finder has scratches and dents from a seat. There is more that I am forgetting ,I have all receipts.Runs and rides good If you have any additional questions or need any kind of clarification, just let me know.

BMW Announces Recall Campaign for K1600 Family Motorcycles

The recall concerns all 2019-2020 BMW K1600 models due to the risk of rear suspension link failure caused by a manufacturing defect - the strength of the part does not meet the factory requirements. This linkage may be destroyed during normal road use, causing the rear of the motorcycle to fall onto the rear wheel. BMW dealers this spring will begin notifying owners of motorcycles that are subject of the recall campaign to visit an authorized dealership for a rear suspension linkage replacement.

Fast Facts Euro 5 engine updates Six-axis IMU Next-gen Dynamic ESA 10.25 TFT Engine updates, 10.25" TFT screen and next-gen Dynamic ESA As we previously reported, BMW has updated its K1600 models for 2022, revising the six-cylinder engine to meet the Euro 5 emissions standard and adding a number of small but notable upgrades. For 2022, the K1600 range will again consist of the sportier K1600GT, the more touring-focused K1600GTL and the streamlined K1600B bagger. The K1600 Grand America also returns as an optional package for the K1600B.

Euro 5 updates and more for six-cylinder K bikes The R18 Transcontinental and R18 Bagger have been getting a lot of attention lately, as BMWs foray into large-displacement cruiser touring segment. Getting somewhat lost, however, are BMWs existing K1600 range, which used to be the companys representatives in the touring category. While still part of BMWs lineup, the six-cylinder models have not been updated since the 2017 model year, not even receiving any changes to meet Euro 5 standards that came into effect last year.
