1976 R90/6 R90 1045cc big bore from San Jose BMW Toaster Cafe builder I ship! (1976)
I am really in love with BMW airheads right now and have a couple projects going. The plan was to make this into a cafe or use the engine for another project and part out the rest. The previous owner put on a big bore kit that really gives this bike some grunt! The Mikunis could use some top end tuning but are much simpler to work over the Bings I'm used to. The body has been rattle canned and looks ok from a distance but very obvious when you get closer. For me, I'd respray if I was to keep it. There are a couple issues that are noteworthy. The bike does drip a bit of oil after being ridden. I don't know exactly where from but plan on some new gaskets if you want to fix this. The previous owner rode it like this and wasn't concerned, just kept her topped off. I'm very picky and would re seal if it was me. also, the bolt that attaches the valve cover in the center is loose. It's not needed to hold the valve cover on, but should be taken care of. Again, previous owner didn't mind, I'd prefer to fix it. I do have the speedo/tach combo if you would like to have it with the bike. The wiring is all there, just not on the bike currently. It shows 18.5K miles. The head and tail lights along with signals are working although no front signals installed. I've priced it based on the current condition and well under parts value. I'm sure the smartest thing I could do is part out the bike but It's too nice to do that. I love this style of bike, tank and especially the peanut style heads. Up for bidding is a 1973 BMW R60 / 5 motorcycle. This motorcycle was from an estate, found in the back of the garage covered by a mountain of bankets. Apparently, the bike was running well when last driven, sometime about 3-4 years ago. There is no battery, so we haven't tried to start it. The wheels roll freely, engine isn't frozen or anything, seems to have compression when kicking, there are no drips/leaks, tires are decent and hold air well, it does come with the keys. The title was issued to the owner in 1980, and he had it ever since. That's 36 years with the same owner, a buyers dream. The odometer reads 97671, and the BMW dealer sticker from the last oil change, on the inside rear fender, reads 97409. So, I believe the mileage is probably accurate, and there's no reason to think that the bike wouldn't still run fine. I can see that the right side cover is missing, but otherwise this bike looks to be pretty complete. It even has the original tool kit and users manual under the seat. All of the lights/lens are good, except for the tail light lens which has been slightly broken. The seat is in great shape, with no rips or tears. I took a lot of pictures, so that you'd get a good idea of the bikes overall condition. If you're looking at this bike, you know how rare these "Toasters" are becoming, as they only made them for a couple of years. I am listing the bike with a very reasonable starting price, well below current NADA blue book values for this model, and the high bidder will get to take this home. Looking at part prices for this bike, I would guess that one could even just part it out and make a tidy profit. In my opinion, this is not by any means just a parts bike. This should be given some tlc and ridden!! This is a NO RESERVE auction. I have 100% LIFETIME feedback as a seller, so no worries here. We knew it wouldn’t be the first, though, after we broke the news that BMW had trademarked the name along with “M 1000 XR” and “M 1300 GS.” What we didn’t expect was for the next M-branded motorcycle to be based on the S 1000 R. That now looks to be the case, as a new M 1000 R model has appeared in vehicle certification documents in Switzerland and Germany.

BMW is Working On An Electric Boxer Motorcycle
Tue, 14 Jun 2022BMW's electric future may have a nod to its past BMW released its second electric scooter earlier this year in the CE 04, and has made clear it plans to produce more electric two-wheelers in the near future. Oliver Zipse, chairman of the board of management for BMW AG, recently went as far as to say BMW Motorrad will introduce a new electric two-wheeler every 18 to 24 months, with the next model coming in 2023. While the initial models will be scooters or “urban mobility vehicles,” BMW is expected to eventually add electric motorcycles to its lineup.

Expected to be based on the TVS Apache RR 310, the G 310 RR should be formally announced shortly for international markets. We’ve been waiting for a G 310 RR sportbike ever since BMW introduced the G 310 R roadster and G 310 GS adventure bike in 2015.
