New: Power Trip Lolita textile Jacket

Sun, 01 Jun 2008

This jacket is made of polyester. Its inner lining is a single polyester covering, not quilted or padded, but is water tight having elasticated wrists and a long Velcro double fold over the inner zip. The unique design features amuse me, especially the concealed garter style belt loops that attach to your belt and come complete with cheeky red ribbons!

New: Bering steel textile jacket

Sun, 01 Jun 2008

Retro-styled jackets always appeal to me, the simple clean lines span across the seasons of fashion making the purchase price justifiable. The style detail on the sleeves is beautiful, and while the rest of the jacket is bland in comparison I think this is quite clever. The Knox body armour in the shoulders is quite bulky, although not uncomfortable, but it did make me feel and possibly look a bit broad (as opposed to ‘a broad’ which I am, I suppose), and the horizontal white stripe across my upper chest probably didn’t do that any favours.

Used Review: Dainese Dunette lady textile jacket

Thu, 01 May 2008

I have hugely contradicting opinions on this jacket. On the one hand I simply adore the flattering cut, build quality and enviable style. But there is the most glaring, obvious flaw which despite my love of the jacket has to be acknowledged – the colour.

New: Biker short underwear top and bottoms

Tue, 01 Apr 2008

Sport clothing is constantly evolving becoming lighter, warmer and more breathable, and while your daily commute may not feel like a sport, the designers at BIKERS have certainly tackled it as one. Thermal underwear just doesn’t do this set justice, they are technically beyond all expectations. A superb design with wind stopper panels where you want them along zip lines, front of thighs and back of neck.

New: Hein Gericke journey gtx jacket

Tue, 01 Apr 2008

This jacket is a functional, robust, Gore-tex laden quality garment. It does the job of keeping you warm and dry and can’t be faulted in that respect. The styling is simple, but I’d put it at the plainer end of that scale.

New: Alpinestars Stella SP-2 Glove

Sat, 01 Mar 2008

These gloves are a must-have Spring buy. They’re comfortable with long wrists, full of protection with grippy palms and everything you’d expect from Alpinestars. I spent a fair while admiring these, not while riding, but sat at home.

New: Tecnik Viper one-piece suit

Sat, 01 Mar 2008

White and black panelled with enough flashes to whisper ‘buy me’ at you but without being trashy. The fit is  great, properly cut for the female form and with Kevlar panels allowing stretch in the right places, although the arse can come up a little baggy. I would say get a size smaller than normal, but they are cut brilliantly and very comfortable.

New: Arai Viper Banda

Sat, 01 Mar 2008

A true example of less is more with this design. I love its simplicity on the retro exterior, the total opposite to the Chaser. Improved breath deflectors for ‘08 should make fogging less of an issue.

New: Arai Chaser Jungle

Sat, 01 Mar 2008

Arai’s mild nod to female riders is the inclusion of a subtle flower on this design. I admit I’m a little disappointed on Arai’s slow uptake on the expanding female consumer, not everything should be pink or diamante encrusted but it’s about choice! As you’d expect from Arai, this is a sublimely comfortable helmet that exudes quality with a busy, interesting and pretty design.

New: Ixon vega ladies jacket

Fri, 01 Feb 2008

A snug and warm multi-purpose jacket that would be equally suited for in town riding or skiing down the slopes. Incredibly flattering cut with metal buckle detail on the wrists and back – pinching in creating a waist over the layers of fleece, water resistant fabric and removable winter lining. Huge, groovy collar looks great.

New: Urban N20 Astro

Tue, 01 Jan 2008

Definitely not an Arai or Shoei, but then neither is the price and for the budget concious the Urban fit the bill. It fits very snuggly with no lateral movement or gaping spaces. For standard sizing they come up ever-so slightly smaller than normal.

New: Forcefield T-Pro back insert

Tue, 01 Jan 2008

Forcefield body armour has been supplying BKS and the like for years and are now supplying us, the buying public, with their wares. Yes there will be a compromise on weight and slight bulk, but I think the safety payoff justifies it – the lattice work armour combined with memory materials mould to your body shape and reportedly continue to work with repeated impacts. Pros: Safety, obviously.Cons: Additional weight.

Frank Thomas Chloe ladies salopettes

Tue, 01 Jan 2008

Does my bum look big in this? Yes. The matching trousers to complete the Frank Thomas set.

New: Frank Thomas Chloe ladies jacket

Tue, 01 Jan 2008

My fashion credentials aren’t the best, but even I know a jacket that looks like a ski coat circa 1985 isn’t going to cut it on the motorways and roads of Britain. I’m tempted to send it to Trinny and Susannah for proper evaluation. Its saving grace is that it does work as a warm, comfortable, wet weather riding jacket.
