2015 BMW K1600GT and K1600GTL Get Traction Control as Standard Equipment

BMW is updating its big six-cylinder touring bikes with traction control as standard equipment and a number of new optional add-ons including keyless remote ignition. Previously available as part of BMW’s factory-installed Safety Package option, the Dynamic Traction Control system will now be standard on all 2015 K1600GT and K1600GTL models. The system continuously monitors rear wheel traction during acceleration, stepping in when it senses excessive wheel spin.

2015 BMW K1300S Motorsport Announced

BMW announced a new special edition version of the K1300S equipped with some upgraded parts and a unique paint job. The 2015 BMW K1300S Motorsport comes with a new Black Storm Metallic, Light White and Lupine Blue Metallic color scheme, with a bit of red striping for good measure. A band of black running across the top of the bike from nose to tank to tail is complemented by a tinted windscreen.

2014 BMW R1200RT Officially Recalled in US

BMW has officially recalled the 2014 R1200RT in the U.S., after the company released a worldwide warning to customers about a potential defect with the rear suspension system. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the piston rod on the R1200RT’s Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) rear shock absorber may break without warning. The problem was first discovered April 1 after a warranty claim was filed in France.

Ducati Fills Top Positions At Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

Ducati riders achieved the Middleweight Division victory and four of the five top motorcycle times of the day at the 92nd running of the historic Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, held last Sunday, June 29. This year’s introduction of new rules and new motorcycle racing divisions, including the “Motorcycle Middleweight Division” and “Motorcycle Open Division,” brought with it a field of strong competitors challenging for top times. The introduction of the “Motorcycle Open Division” – which allowed fully faired liter bikes to compete in the same class as the defending champion Multistrada 1200 – made it the most competitive motorcycle class and the one in which the top five times of the day were posted.

Jeff Clark Fastest Electric Motorcycle Up Pikes Peak This Year

Jeff Clark has now become the now two-time champion at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, after a successful sub 12-minute run up the mountain on Sunday, June 29. Aboard the same Zero FX he rode to victory last year, Clark barely broke the 12-minute barrier by clocking a 11:59 time. Outwardly, Clark’s 777 Zero FX may look similar to the one he rode last year.

Rossi Signs Extension with Yamaha Through 2016 MotoGP Season

Yamaha announced the signing of Valentino Rossi to a two-year contract extension that will see the nine-time World Champion with the factory MotoGP team through the 2016 season. “It’s great because this was my target; I wanted to continue, I am feeling good and I’m motivated to keep giving my best,” says Rossi. “I am very happy that I can keep riding my YZR-M1, that has been my love for so many years and will still be my love this year and the following two seasons.

Museum Founder And Racetrack Builder George Barber elected To AMA Motorcycle Hall Of Fame

George Barber, founder of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum and the Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Ala., has been elected to the AMA Motorcycle Hall Of Fame Class of 2014 in the Ambassador/Industry category. “George Barber’s incredible collection of motorcycles at his museum, as well as his world-class racing facility, are evidence of a love for the history of motorcycling and an appreciation for the passion we all share,” said Ken Ford, a member of the Hall of Fame executive committee and treasurer of the American Motorcyclist Association board of directors. “His significant investment of time, energy and money has produced a world-class shrine to the design, manufacture and enjoyment of motorcycles.” Barber said his first reaction on learning of his Hall of Fame election was “disbelief.” “I know that there are so many great people in the Hall of Fame that I wondered, ‘How in the hell did I get in?’” Barber said.

EBR 1190SX Price And Specs Now Released

At the recent press ride of the EBR 1190RX, held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, EBR surprised those in attendance by unveiling the next model in its lineup, the 1190SX streetfighter. EBR is calling it “a true naked streetfighter-style sport bike with uncompromised Superbike race-bred performance and handling.” However, virtually no information was given on the bike in order to build hype and suspense. Jeremy Toye Wins 92nd Running Of Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

On his first attempt at the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, road racer Jeremy Toye set a record in the premiere Open Class to win the category aboard a 2015 Kawasaki ZX-10R, celebrating the 30th year of the legendary Ninja brand. Prior to setting foot on the hill, Toye was confident he could get among the class leaders, aiming to beat the outright Pikes Peak motorcycle record, which was set by Carlin Dunne in 2012 with a time of 9:52.819. While that record remains intact, Toye was able to set a time of 9:58.687 to win the Open Class, finishing 6sec ahead of his closest rival, Fabrice Lambert aboard a Ducati.

2015 Husqvarna Off-Road Lineup Revealed

Husqvarna Motorcycles revealed its 2015 dirtbike model lineup with a number of upgrades, most noticeably the use of WP Suspension’s 4 chamber fork across the entire motocross line. Many of the updates are similar to those introduced on the 2015 KTM lineup, which should be no surprise after Husqvarna was acquired by KTM’s Chief Executive Officer Stefan Pierer. The 2015 motocross lineup includes the four-stroke FC250, FC350, FC450 and TC85 and the two-stroke TC125 and TC250.

2015 Beta Lineup Revealed

Beta USA has revealed its 2015 models including updates to its entire four-stroke engine range and minor tweaks to its two-stroke lineup. The biggest changes are smaller displacements for most of the four-stroke lineup and the adoption of features previously offered on the Factory-edition variants.
