Triumph Tiger description

1972 Triumph TR6R Tiger. Matching numbers on frame and engine. This was owned by a retired 80 year old gentleman who was retired and living on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It was part of his collection of vintage motorcycles and cars. I was too late to buy the BSA's and Norton's he had for sale but I was able to find this Triumph tucked way back in his barn behind and old Ford truck. I had brought with me a new battery and fresh gas and after a few kicks it started right up. Since I brought it home I have cleaned and rebuilt the carburetor, cleaned the inside of the gas tank with Muric acid so it is now down to bare metal and looks like new again, replaced fuel lines, added fuel filters, changed oil, cleaned points, changed fork oil, tuned timing, and polished paint. I also installed a brand new exhaust from headers down (I still have original) and had newer tires mounted. I don't know if this bike has ever been restored or if this is all original condition. Whatever the case, it looks great! No choke on this bike (doesn't need one), and no directionals. Owner said it never had directionals and now doesn't require them due to its age. These TR6R Tigers are preferred by many over the same year Bonneville's due to the simplicity of a single carb and very similar performance numbers. The bike is ready for a new owner. Comes with clean and clear MA title signed over by the older gentleman with no date. Ready for new owner to sign and bring to their states registry. Good luck bidding.

Recall for 2011 Triumph Tiger 800, 800XC Accessory Center Stands

Mon, 29 Aug 2011

Triumph is recalling accessory center stands for the 2011 Tiger 800 and Tiger 800XC because of a defective return spring. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the return springs on the  accessory center stand for the Triumph Tiger 800 and 800XC may not always return to its original length, potentially leading to a loose center stand and a fracture in the spring wire. Riders may detect a rattling sound from the loose stand and in the case of a fractured spring, a scraping sound caused by the center stand dragging along the road.

Triumph Street Triple Used to Test Rocket Components – Video

Fri, 04 May 2012

California-based aerospace company XCOR is using a Triumph Street Triple to test rocket components for a suborbital spacecraft. Of course, what immediately comes to mind is a giant rocket strapped on to the Triumph, but the truth is much less dramatic, yet still fascinating. XCOR is using the Street Triple for endurance testing of bearings components for the rocket propellant piston pump of the Lynx suborbital spacecraft.
