2013 Long Beach International Motorcycle Show Report

Today the motorcycle press descended upon the Long Beach Convention Center to attend media day at the annual International Motorcycle Show. After feasting from a continental breakfast buffet the discerning journalists set to the task of reporting on the bounty of new model motorcycles – most of which has been previously showcased in our November EICMA reporting. 2014 Honda CTX700 Recalled in Canada for ABS Issue

Transport Canada announced a recall for the new Honda CTX700 because of a manufacturing error in its anti-lock braking system. The Canadian recall applies to both the CTX700N and the partially-faired CTX700T (known simply as the Honda CTX700 in the U.S. market and other markets.) According to the recall notice, the ABS modulator may have been manufactured incorrectly and could potentially fail, allowing the front and/or rear wheels to lock up under heavy braking, increasing the risk of a crash.

As I’ve been gagging for the new race season to kick off so it was almost a pleasure getting up at stupid 0 clock to watch the World Superbike Championship  opener at Phillip Island last weekend. I have to say Messrs Burnicle and Whitham were on form although I was disappointed there were none of the usual verbal attacks on each other that always add to the entertainment.    I’m sure they will put things right soon but the world superbike regulars must have been disheartened that Moto GP veterans nailed five of the six available rostrum slots.
