BSA Lightning tech info

BSA Lightning description
Here is another British Classic motorcycle from the owner's collection. The BSA Lightning was designed as the all-round sportbike of the 1960s, planned largely for export to the US market. Development of the engine aimed to make it more reliable, quieter and less prone to oil leaks & to improve mid-range and rideability. With twin carburetors the Lightning could still reach 108 mph.

Unable to afford a costly traditional sidecar, bus driver Alan Iles of Bedminster opted to build his own, using a bathtub. Twelve years later, the 1959 650cc BSA is still going and has been ridden all over Europe to help raise money for Cancer research and various charities, for which he has raised thousands of British pounds.
