First off, this bike is not numbers matching. I bought this bike off of eBay several years ago and was always intending to convert it to a naked bike. Unfortunately I took it to the BMW dealership in Fort Collins, Colorado to get an oil and filter change for the ride home and only made it a mile or so from the dealership before the engine seized.

Heads and cylinders have been torqued and valve clearances have been adjusted. The final drive has been resealed and the swing arm has a new rear gasket and rubber boot connecting the driveshaft to transmission linkage.

This bike started out as a 1984 BMW R80RT. I found this in a barn and all fluids had been drained. I put fresh fluids, battery and gas and when I hit the starter it purred like a kitten. The touring fairing and other items were removed as they were in rough shape. I left the bike in original patina because I wasn't sure if I was gonna make a brat or a cafe racer. I ride this bike almost every day and it starts first time every time.

Beautiful and rather rare 1984 R-80-ST. It runs very well. Has been garaged and started frequently, and ridden in the last 6 months. I was told it is a 1983 even though the paper work says 1984. Speedometer reads 373 miles. It is stock except for: It has been lowered for the needs of a doctor who owned it before we bought it back. The seat, shocks and tires have been modified to lower the entire bike making it a very nice motorcycle for a shorter rider or as a first bike. Nothing has been altered that cannot be taken back to stock. The frame has not been altered at all.
