1980 BMW R100S Exklusiv Exclusive Sport Original RARE Low Miles (1980)
ID of this rare BMW came from Tom Cutter who was employed by BMW US Importer Butler & Smith as their head technician and a Team BMW member. By phone conversation Tom told me he helped open the cargo container on a snowy Oct day 1979 which held the silver blue striped Exclusive Sport models. He stated the container had only 30 of these imported to the USA. He said very rare bike and asked if I was riding it. I said yes I did ride it he stated he wouldn't be! Main reason so few BMW were imported is in 1980 is it was the transition year between Butler and Smith and then BMWNA, imports were so low that was actually their lowest sales year in modern times. The multi blue stripe pattern Tom believed is likely copied from the Butler & Smith BMW 1978 Superbike racers. By a German info contact in 1979 the limited edition silver and triple tone blue R100S Exclusive Exklusiv Sport was designed by Walter Maurer from Dachau near Munich. The model also included chrome shock bodies black springs, polished aluminum fork sliders, carb covers & rear drive housing. This R100S is NOT a Lufthansa Airlines or Airliner pattern or color design as Internet rumors have evolved, these claims are false! It took 11 months of research to establish this information. When I purchased this R100S 7/13 it had 7800 miles now 8665 mi.,. Seat is in great condition soft and comfortable, all paint scratches are visible in images. Hand control info text/decals are in nice condition with all gauges including clock functioning. When new it had dealer installed optional high capacity deep oil pan as list on receipt. Original windscreen. Only con is the transmission has a false neutral only when down shifting from 4th to 3rd gears. I have the original take-off Continental tires included with bike. Collector could remount them and display as original stock. Has new Deka battery and 800 miles on a set of Shinko tires. This R100S came from original owner. Comes with ABT of Chicago sales receipt, water resistant tool container with cover, tools & pouch, owners manual, air pump, tire/tyre repair kit, front wheel locking cable, BMW shop rag and BMW service pamphlet. Last few images are of original tires mounted from last July 2012. The rusty R100S Exclusive Sport is the only image I have found of one in the USA. Up for bids is a 1980 BMW R100RT 1000cc boxer sport touring twin. This machine was brought into our shop for an oil change by a customer who had just purchased it. Sadly, the customer died while the bike was here......it wasn't here THAT long. Has had the following done recently within 20 miles or so: New Dunlop D404 tires & tubes; 100/90/19 front; 110/90/18 rear; $301.00 combined retail New Brown (brand) side stand; $160 retail Oil & filter change; $45.00 combined retail New aftermarket wind screen We looked over the bike quickly in order to prepare for selling it. It needs: Rear shocks shot.....will INCLUDE a believed to be good used pair off the same model Rear brake disc and left front brake disc are worn Will need a battery but we jumped it and were able to ride the machine Seems to run and drive OK, engine sounds good Krauser bags in decent shape, but WILL NOT FIT because the mufflers have been changed to aftermarket and they're too high We have the lower center fairing piece that is missing in the picture. The bike also has a Reynolds ride-off centerstand and a Reynolds rear rack with Krauser trip trunk. We also have the original right-hand inner fairing pocket lid. Has aftermarket pocket lids. Had a radio in the left pocket at one time and there is a hole drilled in the fairing for an antenna. The bike has a lot of scuffs and scratches, but nothing major is broken. We're selling this machine AS IS WHERE IS and it would make a great restoration, café or bobber project. The reserve is low and very fair for what this machine is. Limited Edition Vespa 946 Snake Celebrates Lunar New Year
Fri, 17 Jan 2025Vespa probably isn’t the brand you’d think would be celebrating the Lunar New Year and honoring the Chinese zodiac, but for the third year in a row, the Italian brand has done just that with a limited edition 946 scooter. The 2025 Vespa 946 Snake comes after last year’s 946 Dragon and 2023’s 946 Bunny as the third entry in the brand’s Lunar Collection. We can probably expect the collection to expand over the next decade to complete the Chinese zodiac’s 12 animals, with a Horse-themed model for 2026.The 946 Dragon came in a muted golden color with a bold green dragon graphic on the front shield, while the 2023 946 Bunny had a more playful look, with a lime green color and a cartoon rabbit on the shield.

2025 Harley-Davidson FLHXU Confirmed: Enter the Street Glide Ultra?
Tue, 24 Dec 2024Harley-Davidson has been pretty tight-lipped about its 2025 model lineup so far, but Motorcycle.com can confirm that it will include at least one new touring model designated “FLHXU”. Considering the Street Glide is the FLHX, it’s a safe bet that the new model will be a Street Glide Ultra, which somehow has never actually existed before. For those unfamiliar with Harley-Davidson nomenclature, Ultras are Harley-Davidson’s big-rig touring models, typically equipped with fairing lowers, a Tour-Pak combination topcase and passenger backrest, plus other amenities for racking up miles in comfort.
