1974 BMW R-Series (1974)
1974 BMW R90/6 900 cc classic motorcyle. VIN 4040399 This was my husband's bike, which he rode daily as weather permitted. He greatly loved riding this BMW and planned to completely restore it. The bike and extras have been in covered storage for a little over 3 years (thus some dust and rust).2016-06-20 04:57:41Berwick, Pennsylvania, United States938100 -

1973 BMW R75/5 SWB Cafe Scrambler. Number Match. Thoroughly Revivified. Fast. (1973)
BACKSTORY I have here one R75/5 SWB classic with matching engine, frame, and badge numbers; it has a model year of 1973 and a build date of 1/1972, so the wiring is fuseless and most of the parts are stamped 1971. I got it as a basket case in the Spring and spent an unreasonable amount of time this Summer reviving and refinishing various components and making a few reversible (non-destructive) modifications. PO replaced the head & base gaskets, pushrod tube seals, etc., got it fired up then lost interest. REVIVAL (I would not call it a "restoration") I stripped & painted the frame and swingarm (spray lacquer; 3 coats black, 3 coats clear) and polished most of the engine casings. All the knurled BMW casing bolts looked great, but much of the other original hardware (hardened nuts & bolts, bushings, motor mounts, brake linkage, seat latch, steering damper, etc.) had a "lovely patina" (ahem), so I de-plated and re-plated all (zinc; 2 to 4 strikes).2013-10-14 00:06:52Norwich, Vermont, US32,2032,950.00 -

1973 BMW R-Series (1973)
Up for bidding is a 1973 BMW R60 / 5 motorcycle. This motorcycle was from an estate, found in the back of the garage covered by a mountain of bankets. Apparently, the bike was running well when last driven, sometime about 3-4 years ago. There is no battery, so we haven't tried to start it. The wheels roll freely, engine isn't frozen or anything, seems to have compression when kicking, there are no drips/leaks, tires are decent and hold air well, it does come with the keys. The title was issued to the owner in 1980, and he had it ever since. That's 36 years with the same owner, a buyers dream. The odometer reads 97671, and the BMW dealer sticker from the last oil change, on the inside rear fender, reads 97409. So, I believe the mileage is probably accurate, and there's no reason to think that the bike wouldn't still run fine. I can see that the right side cover is missing, but otherwise this bike looks to be pretty complete. It even has the original tool kit and users manual under the seat. All of the lights/lens are good, except for the tail light lens which has been slightly broken. The seat is in great shape, with no rips or tears. I took a lot of pictures, so that you'd get a good idea of the bikes overall condition. If you're looking at this bike, you know how rare these "Toasters" are becoming, as they only made them for a couple of years. I am listing the bike with a very reasonable starting price, well below current NADA blue book values for this model, and the high bidder will get to take this home. Looking at part prices for this bike, I would guess that one could even just part it out and make a tidy profit. In my opinion, this is not by any means just a parts bike. This should be given some tlc and ridden!! This is a NO RESERVE auction. I have 100% LIFETIME feedback as a seller, so no worries here. Please ask any questions BEFORE bidding, and please don't bid if you haven't already got the money to complete the sale. I will be glad to assist any shipper, if one is used.2016-07-15 04:53:30Southfield, Michigan, United States975400 -

1972 BMW R-Series (1972)
Vintage BMW classic "toaster tank" R60/5 motorcycle for sale. This is a second owner bike, I purchased this from the son of the original owner who purchased it new in 1973. The bike is in excellent shape, clean, in unrestored original condition. I had the cylinders off, valves replaced, and adjusted. Runs smooth. Carbs were rebuilt, but still drip some gas out of the overflow. Speedometer is not operative, so mileage is not accurate, but I probably only put a couple thousand on it since I acquired it. I registered this motorcycle a couple years ago, but I have let it expire. Even includes the original tire hand pump and tools BMW supplied with the bike when purchased. Local pickup only. I can assist in delivery.2016-06-23 04:56:20Uncasville, Connecticut, United States2113000 -
1972 BMW R-Series (1972)
Got this bike over twenty years ago and shortly after decided to restore it. when i got it it had rusted exhaust, short in the electrical system and all sorts of there issues...I went with stainless steel exhaust, new cables, wheels were sent out and came with stainless spokes, new tires , cylinder heads were updated to a needle bearings style rocker arms, new rings ,reseated valves ,powder coated frame, new clutch ,all new cables, polished forks, powder coated seat base .....When i got the bike it had 17k miles and it had sat outside for a while so it needed most of what was done to it.I went to DMV and the did all the paperwork and of course the title came back with 725550k miles They said that they needed to see the bike to correct it well it was apart so that never got done...The title says 72555miles the odometer with a broken needle says 24565The bike will need tires, battery, rubber grips you decide....It will run and it started on the third kick after sitting 4 years. I was just kicking it to get the oil going before starting it an there it went so with the jumper battery all the electrics work. All in all it can be an easy restoration project and a nice ride for the summer...I would like to see it gone since it is not getting used and it is a waste..Have way too many other bikes and this one just sits in the barn collecting dust.2016-07-04 04:54:11Middleburg, Virginia, United States1234,500.00 -

1969 BMW R-Series (1969)
I have owned the bike since 1985, but let the tags expire in 1987 while I was at college. I was concerned about using unleaded gas in it, and I got tired of fixing the floats, and it needed a new muffler cross-over pipe (which I still have, but never installed) to pass inspection. I did not need it for transportation, so it got left alone and ended up stored in a barn for a few years, until I moved to a place where I could store it where I lived. My intention was to harden the engine for the unleaded gas, but I could never afford to have it done. The last time I had it running was around 94 or so. Since then, it was kept in a shed until 97, then garages. Kind of became part of the garages at both of the houses that I lived. Mostly out of sight and out of mind, unless it was in the way. I have thought of trying to restore it, but my kids are not really interested in it, and so many years have passed, that it is just time to sell. It has 26,061 miles on it. I still have the Virginia state title. I took off the faring a few years ago and stored it in the attic of the garage to get it out of the way. For the one picture I put it mostly on, just to show it, but did not tightened it down. The engine does have compression, but it has not had gas in it for quite some time and the tank is rusted inside. There is some rust on the handle bars as seen in the pictures, and the mufflers are not original, but they were incredibly loud (even before the leak). The spark plug cable holders (piece that goes over the plug) have broken on both sides where the spark plug wire is clamped onto the holder (can see in the picture somewhat).2016-08-06 04:51:27King George, Virginia, United States264200 -

2025 Husqvarna Vitpilen 801 First Look
Wed, 02 Oct 2024The Svartpilen 801 has a new roadster-styled sibling, as Husqvarna announces the new White Arrow Vitpilen 801. Like the Black Arrow, the Vitpilen adopts the 799cc LC8c Parallel-Twin of the KTM 790 Duke, offering yet a new option to the shared platform. Ryan Adams recently reviewed the Svartpilen 801 and found it a worthy contender in the market that brings its own unique style alongside proven performance. That theme continues with the new Vitpilen, which brings its own take, with more aggressive ergonomics and a bright splash of color in yellow (a silver color is also available if you prefer something less flashy).

2024 GS Trophy Day 4 A Saving Grace
Fri, 20 Sep 2024In an interesting turn of events, Team USA has been reinstated to the competition, only losing the chance to score points on the day the MRP rode with them. Likewise, the two teams from Benelux have now joined together to create a co-ed team with the remaining female competitor joining the two men to round out the team. Despite being down a days worth of points, our good ol boys hit the ground running on their way out of Spitzkoppe toward the first special test of the day, the Advantec Pull Challenge.

2024 GS Trophy Day 3 Challenging the Omaruru
Wed, 18 Sep 2024Team USAs third day began with a total disqualification from the overall standings. Kirk Graydon, our competitor from South Carolina, began feeling ill during day two, making it into camp on fumes and eventually getting an IV and nausea medication to help relieve his symptoms. With no appetite and a shot from the doc to help him sleep, Graydon slowly started feeling better, but elected not to continue the GS Trophy alongside his teammates the following day due to safety concerns for himself and others.
