1992 BMW K-Series (1992)
Priced to sell! The Original BMW Superbike BMW’s break with its air-cooled tradition started in 1982 when it introduced the K100, their first inline liquid cooled four cylinder production motorcycle. In September 1988, after continuous development, the company announced the upgraded, fully faired K1. While based on the K100, the new K1 was in fact a different animal altogether. The K1 received the new four-valve cylinder head (BMW’s first-ever 16 valve motor) and an improved Bosch fuel injection system making it, at 100hp, the most powerful production bike that the company had ever built. The K1 was designed as a high speed autobahn tourer capable of cruising at 100 mph for hours on end. Early tests on the bike measured performance times of 0-60 in 3.9 seconds and a top speed in excess of 140 mph. The K1 also received BMW’s new Paralever swingarm (which helped to eliminate the rise and fall from acceleration and deceleration common to shaft-driven motorbikes). All US bound K1’s were made standard with BMW’s ABS braking system. In addition, four-piston Brembo calipers on the K1 replaced the K100’s twin units up front along with a thicker rear rotor. The K1’s frame, while similar to the K100, was also strengthened substantially with larger diameter tubing and slightly revised geometry along with a longer wheelbase to improve stability at higher speeds. In addition, much of the bike’s characteristic high-speed calm was thanks to the K1’s unique bodywork. The wind-tunnel-tested fairing was measured to have the lowest drag coefficient of any production motorcycle to date. Built from 1988 to 1993, only 6,912 K1’s were sold worldwide. Still , the bike was a marketing success as it helped to shift public perception of BMW from a manufacturer of reliable tourers to a producer of modern high-speed sport bikes. The BMW K1 was created to be the company’s flagship, a technological tour de force that nobody would confuse with anything that BMW – or any other manufacturer – had ever made before.2016-07-25 04:56:46Sunnyvale, California, United States710,555.00

Limited Edition Vespa 946 Snake Celebrates Lunar New Year
Fri, 17 Jan 2025Vespa probably isn’t the brand you’d think would be celebrating the Lunar New Year and honoring the Chinese zodiac, but for the third year in a row, the Italian brand has done just that with a limited edition 946 scooter. The 2025 Vespa 946 Snake comes after last year’s 946 Dragon and 2023’s 946 Bunny as the third entry in the brand’s Lunar Collection. We can probably expect the collection to expand over the next decade to complete the Chinese zodiac’s 12 animals, with a Horse-themed model for 2026.The 946 Dragon came in a muted golden color with a bold green dragon graphic on the front shield, while the 2023 946 Bunny had a more playful look, with a lime green color and a cartoon rabbit on the shield.

2025 Harley-Davidson FLHXU Confirmed: Enter the Street Glide Ultra?
Tue, 24 Dec 2024Harley-Davidson has been pretty tight-lipped about its 2025 model lineup so far, but Motorcycle.com can confirm that it will include at least one new touring model designated “FLHXU”. Considering the Street Glide is the FLHX, it’s a safe bet that the new model will be a Street Glide Ultra, which somehow has never actually existed before. For those unfamiliar with Harley-Davidson nomenclature, Ultras are Harley-Davidson’s big-rig touring models, typically equipped with fairing lowers, a Tour-Pak combination topcase and passenger backrest, plus other amenities for racking up miles in comfort.
Best Naked Motorcycle of 2024: KTM 1390 Super Duke
Fri, 20 Dec 2024The 1290 Super Duke was already a ridiculous motorcycle with the amount of power it had, all wrapped up in a fairing-less package. I thought we had reached peak levels of power, torque, and displacement – especially in naked bikes – and the industry would shift its attention towards electronics to make it all manageable. But then KTM went and threw the playbook out the window with this, the 1390 Super Duke.
