The first ever World Superbike round in Malaysia offered a plenty of drama including both factory Kawasaki riders crashing out on the first lap, a red flagged second race and an overall impressive outing by Aprilia. Under pressure for his lack of results so far this season, Marco Melandri impressed, earning the double for his first career wins on the RSV4 Factory. Aprilia riders led every lap in both races at Sepang, including the red-flagged initial start for Race 2, with Sylvain Guintoli joining his teammate on the podium with a pair of second-place finishes.

Revealed ahead of its official presentation at the 2012 EICMA show, the Caponord will go up against competitors such as the Ducati Multistrada, Triumph Tiger Explorer, KTM 1190 Adventure and the segment’s benchmark, the BMW R1200GS. Aprilia released a video tribute to the NASA Space Shuttle Program a day in advance of the program’s final mission. On July 8, 2011, Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 11:29 a.m. EDT, ushering in the end of a “30-year program of exploration, which launched great observatories, built an International Space Station, and taught us how humans can live, work and thrive in space,” says a brief description on NASA’s website of the final flight.
