Harley-Davidson Sportster description

1972 Harley Davidson Sportster

This is a very nice Harley Davidson Sportster. The bike has 19,582 original miles. The bike has not been chopped or changed in any way. It still has original exhaust pipes that sound very nice. Almost everything on this bike is stock condition. The 1000cc Engine runs great. The top end was freshened up a couple years ago and it has good power.  The gauges work great also. The engine doesn’t smoke or have any issues. It still has the stock zenith Bendix carburetor that was rebuilt when the top end was done.  It does drip a little oil from time to time but not bad.  The paint is nice but does have a few small flaws and chips due to use. The bike rides and handles very good. The bike shifts as it should with no issues. This is a right hand shift so if you aren’t use to it you might take a few rides around your neighborhood to get the feel of it. The seat is nice with no tears, and is a low profile seat.  The original aluminum rims are straight with no bends. This is a list of new item on the bike.

  • New Battery

  • New Tires

  • New Voltage Regulator

  • New Coil

  • New Spark Plugs

  • New Lowering Shocks

The overall condition of the bike is very good. The brakes work great but they are drum brakes not disc brakes. I do still have the original factory air cleaner also. This is an old motorcycle and they do need more attention than new motorcycles. Things do need tightened and adjusted from time to time, but it is lots of fun riding around on these vintage Harley Davidson motorcycles. If you are looking or expecting a new motorcycle this may not be what you are looking for. If you are looking for a nice vintage Harley Davidson sportster than give this bike a look.
