Harley-Davidson Sportster description

Note: In order to reduce the liklyhood of non-paying bidders this listing includes buyer requirements. If you do not meet the requirements you may contact me to discuss purchasing.

This K-Model reflects a perfect blend of vintage and contemporary chopper-craft. The transformation began with its previous owners years ago and we've recently reconfigured it to its present form. The original motor is situated in a late 60's 900 Sportster chassis with a 2" stretch bolt on hardtail, and 4"-over Forks by Frank. The later Evo-era Sportster tank provides a sleek line to augment the mild chassis stretch. The result is a simple yet tastefully executed period inspired chopper.

The dark emerald green paint shines nicely. There are a few chips in the front fender and some light scratches but overall it maintains an attractive, presentable appearance (pictures represent condition) The cases and cylinder heads have been show polished to a brilliant shine. The cam chest and primary & sprocket covers, along with tappet guide tubes, motor mounts and oil tank are beautiful vintage chrome.

This bike has no mechanical issues. The engine was recently disassembled completely, reconditioned and resealed. The engine cases are in great condition with no cracks or prior weld-repairs. At some point in the past the left side case was dealer upgraded with a factory replacement case with trap-door provision. It starts and runs good, doesn't smoke or have any unusual engine noises. The clutch works great and the transmission shifts flawlessly.

Its perfectly tuned SU carburetor and auto advance distributor enable easy starts hot or cold; usually in 1 kick. It has good Harley/Dunlop rubber front and rear and the charging system has been upgraded to a 12 volt system for reliability. Clear MO Title!

I am willing to help arrange shipping but all shipping costs will be buyer's responsibility unless otherwise negotiated prior to purchase. I will entertain reasonable offers but this isn't a fire sale. Trades for other Harley's may be considered as part of a best-offer arrangement with cash my way. The survey, which will appear on the April 2013 issue of Consumer Reports, says one in three BMW owners reported experiencing a major problem with their bikes in the last four years. Harley-Davidson owners were slightly better, with one in four reporting serious issues.

AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Riders Gearing Up For Road America

Thu, 29 May 2014

The AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class makes its much-anticipated return to Road America this weekend. The four-mile Wisconsin circuit is a particularly exciting place to watch the middleweight bikes because its long straights and braking zones make passing and lead changes commonplace. More than just a test of man and machine, the races often develop into a strategic battle leading up to the all-important last lap and run up the hill to the checkered flag.
