Bimota DB5 description

Bimota DB7 using a Ducati 1098 Testastretta Evoluzione engine. Both brake reservoirs and clutch reservoir was flushed and changed to BMW Hi Performance DOT 4 brake fluid. The radiator has been serviced with Engine Ice coolant. The DB7 looks like no other Superbike, with team colours of red, white and black applied to the carbon fiber body shaped by the pen and hands of designer Enrico Borghesan, the Bimota family DNA is clear to see. This Superbike dares true motorcyclists to get close and indulge in its details. The beauty and drama of the DB7 at a distance is surpassed only by its detail. From billet machined sub-frames, footrests and control levers to the structural carbon fiber tail section and titanium silencer, no compromise was ever considered nor made. The details are simply spectacular.

1998 Bimota 500 Vdue

Fri, 04 Jan 2013

How could you not love Bimota's 500 Vdue. Launched in 1998 at a cost of £14,500 it didn't so much come with a list of optional extras, more a lottery list of factory-spec problems, longer than the accessories list on a 1200GS. To me, it sums up Bimota perfectly: ambitious, exotic, problematic and almost impossible to justify and because of this: addictive and alluring.

Bimota is returning to the World Superbike Championship after signing a five-year research and development deal with Team Alstare. The Italian company was one of the original manufacturers in the series’ inaugural 1988 season but Bimota hasn’t competed since the 2000 season. Team Alstare will enter two Bimota BB3 superbikes in the EVO class, playing a leading role in developing the sportbike.

Bimota to Miss Remainder of WSBK Season

Thu, 28 Aug 2014

Bimota has failed to meet the World Superbike Championship‘s homologation requirements and will not be allowed to participate in the rest of the 2014 season. Bimota had been under probation where it was allowed to race but would not receive any championship points for its efforts, until it could produce 125 street legal examples of its BB3 superbike. The probationary period has now ended and Bimota has informed series promoter Dorna and the FIM that it has not met the 125-unit minimum required for homologation.
