BMW R-Series description

2004 BMW R1150R  non-ABS oil head twin cylinder fuel injected six speed shaft driven  motorcycle  in good condition  runs , rides , shifts just like it should  the only thing that does not work is the horn .(and this riders knees)

I am the second owner I got it in july this year from the original owner I gave $5500 for it. There is nothing wrong with it ( except for the horn) the problem is me, I sold my XR650L this spring because my knees would not allow me to throw a leg over it anymore (Too Tall ) so I bought this to replace it, But it's just a tad to heavy for the knees I'm afraid I'm going to drop it ( and myself ) when getting off it so before I destroy it  I figured I'd try to sell it I know it's late in the season to sell so I'm pricing it to move so I don't have to store it this winter.

This is a well taken care of bike, it's been stored indoors , The first owner added many nice features , Like the color Matched Parabellum Scout Fairing , the Sargent leather seats ( front and rear ) and the full size removable BMW Saddlebags the exhaust was modified to accomadate the Full size bags ( see photo ) it had to be lowered to get the left bag on . it's not the prettiest but is fully functional and the D&D exhaust has a nice note to it not too loud but you can hear it . with the saddle bag on it's barely visible . A throttlemeister throttle holder and the added highway footpegs along with a footpeg lowering kit and handle bar risers ( up & back ) I purchased a Wunderlich touring wellness handle bar but have not installed it , it is included though .  He also added the automatic turn signal cancellation kit  and front fender extender the tires are like new .it also has heated grips so there is not much else one would want on this bike.

It has the tool kit under the rear seat  and the owners manual and extra key The saddle bags and ignition are keyed alike so one key fits all . There are no leaks and everything but the horn works , the horn is there but the plug in on the wires got torn loose and is missing ? how I do not know it was that way when I got it ,  The bike is not showroom new there are some small scratches on the tank and various other places nothing out of the ordinary for a bike this age .

A friend of mine read the description and said by the look of the price descrepency as to what I paid and what I'm asking it would seem that there is something wrong with the bike . not true the reasoning behind my price reflects the fact that I would need to heat the garage all winter it's not insulated very well so it gets large temperature swings which causes condensation on the bike and in the gas tank and  it runs an extra $100 bucks or so per month times 4 to 6 months adds up and I would service the bike before I put it up for the winter so all this adds up, in my mind by selling it now I would break about even over keeping it  so thats the reason for the lowered price maybe my logic is wrong but it seems right to me.  I also tried to get a picture of the scratch on the tank but it won't show up in the photo I did get a picture of the scratch on the rack and will post it .
