BMW R-Series description

1970 numbers matching BMW R75/5 with the desirable short wheel base.  This bike has been fully rebuilt and is ready to go!!  I received this bike in boxes after it had only seen 14k miles and rebuilt, renewed or replaced every part.  The engine was rebuilt professionally by Bancroft Motorcycle Works in Ohio along with the rear end.  New rings, clutch, timing chain and all the gaskets/seals were replaced.  A 280w charging system was added to up the juice over the stock 100w.  The speedo was sent to Overseas speedo and rebuilt leaving the original miles intact I added led bulbs so that those difficult lights will NEVER have to be changed again. The frame was stripped and powder-coated in gloss black along with the swingarm, rear springs and the Reynolds ride off stand.  The paint is BMW /2 Dover White with hand applied correct pin striping on a /6 sport tank that really looks great.  The seat is new and comfortable.  The forks were rebuilt to as new condition with new seals and gaiters.  New wiring, cables, bolts, bulbs and all the rubber bits were replaced.  The brakes were rebuilt and work great.  tires are new Metzlers with less than 900 miles on them along with natural rubber tubes  The carbs were rebuilt and tuned at Bancroft Motorcycle Works; this bike hums!  I added period correct Albert headlight mirrors and a /2 sidecar handlebar for a more relaxed cafe look; you can ride all day and look cool doing it!!  The only "cons" on this bike are a couple paint blemishes less than the size of a quarter and some gas staining on the carbs.  This bike doesn't leak a drop, starts right up, runs smooth, stops great and is as cool as the other side of the pillow.  This bike has less than 900 miles since being finished and all of the break in maintenance is done; all of the bugs are worked out and she is ready to ride across the country or the next bike night.  I am still riding this bike so the mileage will change. This was going to be my "forever" bike and I built it that way.  Life has other plans and the time has come for me to move on but she is ready to go to a good home where she will be appreciated.  I am willing to help with shipping (within reason) and will deliver the bike up to 500 miles for $1.00/mile loaded. If you are interested I could swap the tank for a toaster or even a stock large 5 gal tank (both would need to be painted and therefore would take a little time to complete)  Please don't bid unless you plan to buy!! French Moto Website Anticipates Versys 1000 at EICMA 2011

Mon, 24 Oct 2011

Musings of a liter-size engined Kawasaki Versys have circulated the web for a few years now, as loyalists of the likable Versys 650, as well as displacement-driven riders waiting in the wings, have pondered the potential of a more powerful adventure bike from Kawasaki that’s in the same league as BMW’s R1200GS and Yamaha’s Super Tenere. Alas, nothing of the sort has ever left the lips of Kawasaki, let alone go into production. Recently, however, the French motorcycle website, Moto-net.com, has produced convincing images that appear like photos of a complete Versys 1000, including matching hard luggage.

BMW S1000RR Valve Train Working at High RPM [video]

Tue, 23 Feb 2010

I’d like to ramble on about a dozen different things relating to this video, but the 3- minute, 19-second clip speaks for itself. However, once the engine is revving at high rpm, watching the cams, finger followers and valve springs seemingly freeze in action due to the incredible speeds, I was reminded of that whole “Dude, the faster I went the more everything around me seemed to slow down,” experience we’ve all heard about or experienced. Enjoy!

Wazuma V8: The Ferrari Powered Quad

Thu, 26 Dec 2013

What’s $250,000, has four wheels, and is powered by a Ferrari engine? Clearly, if you guessed a Ferrari you’d be wrong. From the crazy minds of French custom car and motorcycle builders, Lazareth, comes this Wazuma V8 quad — yes, quad — with the aforementioned parts.
