Simoncelli vs. Laverty at Imola

September 2009 and Marco Simoncelli competes in World Superbikes for the first time on the Aprilia RSV4. Fresh from his 250cc GP world championship, SuperSic's limitless talent and endless confidence saw him beat Max Biaggi to the last spot on the podium in Race 2. Aprilia Files Appeal for Monza Race 2 WSBK Results

As expected, Aprilia has filed an appeal with the International Motorcycling Federation‘s International Disciplinary Court for the finish to the second race of the past weekend’s World Superbike Championship round at Italy’s Monza circuit. The race ended in controversy stemming from Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes running wide on a corner and missing a chicane on the final lap. Sykes was in third place at the time ahead of Aprilia‘s Sylvian Guintoli, and was able to return to the track ahead of Guintoli, crossing the finish less than a second ahead of the Aprilia rider to take third place.

Carlos Checa extended his lead in the 2011 World Superbike Championship, winning both races at Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park. The Althea Ducati racer recorded his second double of the season and now has six wins in ten races. Checa also scored the double in Utah in 2008 when Miller Motorsports Park made its debut on the WSBK calendar.
