Mon, 22 Jul 2013Marco Melandri captured his third win of the season, the Ducati 1199 Panigale scored its first podium while Sylvain Guintoli regained the championship lead despite dislocating his collarbone days before the race. But the big news at Moscow Raceway of course was the tragic death of Andrea Antonelli in the World Supersport race. The opening-lap crash in severely wet conditions naturally led to the cancellation of the rest of the events as the World Superbike community mourns the loss of the 25-year-old Antonelli.

Lorenzo Crashes in Practice Again; This Time He’ll Skip the Race

He's teamed up with motorsports promoter M1 to create Ben Bostrom Events, a company that plans to host world-class cycling and running races across the US. According to a press release, the high-intensity events will feature an 'entertainment-filled atmosphere', combining many of the familiar elements found at other MOB (mud, obstacles, beer) racing events.
MotoGP Axes Claiming Rule and Adjusts Moto2 Engine Swap Fees

Effective immediately, teams using the official spec Magneti Marelli ECU hardware and software are exempt from having their engines claimed. An accompanying image of a test unit in camouflage reveals two closely-aligned front wheels beneath a broad fairing. The new model will be a three-wheeler similar to Piaggio‘s MP3 scooter instead of the four wheels like the Tesseract concept (pictured further below) first introduced at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show.
