Yamaha YZF-R description

Up for sale is a clean titled 1999 Yamaha R1, which was converted into a naked bike. The bike runs well, and makes for a reliable commuter or superb canyon carver.

This R1 was converted by the previous owner who decided to convert it into a naked bike. The owner, who I bought the bike from, was an older gentleman who said the bike was beginning to become too heavy for his ability. So, I bought it and I've put 1,200 miles on the bike since I purchased it. There has been absolutely no mechanical problems with the bike since I've purchased it.

The Good
-Mechanically sound
-Engine and transmission are smooth
-Clutch is strong
-Carbon Fiber Yoshimura Exhaust
-Unique look
-Comfortable riding position, especially for commuting
-Won't need an oil change for a while
-Brakes are good
-No leaks, and no signs of burning oil
-The dashboard works great, such as the speedometer, gas light, odometer, trip meter, etc).
-Headlight, blinkers, and brake lights all work.

The Bad
-Rear tire could use replacement sometime in the near future (I'd say there's 750-1000 miles left on the current rear tire, or more if you really stretch it).
-Could use new brake fluid
-Tiny JB weld by professional welder on left side of crankcase (it's reportedly been there for 5000 miles, and it's completely sealed and sound in my experience).
-Could have idle lowered by 200-300 RPM, but I wouldn't consider this an issue, but I'll disclose for transparency
-The dashboard doesn't illuminate at night, nor does the neutral light, but it's very easy to find neutral on the bike.

This is seriously a great bike if you want to save some cash. It's not the prettiest nor is it in mint condition, but people love looking at it, and it's fast while being reliable. I've had absolutely no issues with it at all. I'm only selling it to switch over to a DRZ 400SM.

If you have any questions regarding the bike or want more pictures, don't hesitate to shoot me a text @ 949-680-9297. I would prefer not shipping the bike, but if you feel that you want the bike and want to ship it, then just contact me.

James Stewart‘s hot streak continues with his second-consecutive win and fourth AMA Supercross podium in five weeks after an impressive effort at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Fresh off of signing a contract extension with Yoshimura Suzuki, Stewart took control of the Arlington main event on the third lap, passing holeshot-taker Ryan Dungey and running away with the win. With his win last week at San Diego, Stewart becomes the first rider to win back-to-back races this season and establishes himself as a championship contender as we approach the mid-way point of the 2014 season.

AMA Supercross: 2012 Arlington Results

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

Defending champion Ryan Villopoto won his third consecutive AMA Supercross race in Arlington, Texas, but the victory was overshadowed by a season-ending injury suffered by one of his main challengers Chad Reed. TwoTwo Motorsport Honda‘s Reed trailed Villopoto in second place for the first six laps at Cowboys Stadium. Disaster struck on Lap 7 however as Reed crashed hard in the whoops.

Tommy Hayden to Race 2012 Daytona 200 for Graves Yamaha – Video

Fri, 16 Mar 2012

Tommy Hayden has signed on to race in the 2012 Daytona 200 for the Graves Yamaha team as an replacement for injured rider Garrett Gerloff. Gerloff broke his right femur in the first Daytona Sportbike class practice session for the Daytona 200, leaving Yamaha little time to find a replacement. Hayden had raced for Yamaha before, and those old ties reconnected quickly in time for the season opening race.
