                                                                                      1978 Yamaha YZ400

Up for your consideration is my 1978 Yamaha YZ400.    This is a matching numbers bike, original frame and motor.  This bike is a very nice bike.  It starts, runs and rides excellent.  The power is crisp and snappy with low end torque you will enjoy.  The former owner had spent alot of time restoring the bike, including new piston, rings, engine freshening, brakes, new cables, and a thorough tune up.  New plastics, original tank and seat.  It was never raced and only ridden as a woods bike so it is very nice.  The power is amazing and this bike is for the experienced rider only!!   Your friends will eat rocks!!   You can do your research on these 400's and you will find that the '78 was quite the bike to race back in the day. The 1978 YZ400  was considered one of the  the best Open Class bikes of the day, and, the 1978 was the year to have, a better bike than the 79.   I have a supertrap muffler on it for woods riding which you can remove if so desired.  I would also put different tires on it for racing MX, depending on the track type and conditions.   Reserve is very reasonable for what this bike is and I think you will be very happy.  Thanks for your interest and thanks for bidding.  Good luck to all.

PAYMENT BY PAY PAL ONLY:  You need to have a Pay Pal account linked up to your ebay email address. Invoice will be send to you and please pay when you receive the Invoice.  If you do not have the money to buy, please do not bid.

The bike is located in Onsted, Michigan 49265 which is 62 miles southwest of Detroit and 45 minutes northwest of Toledo, Ohio.  I do not ship motorcycles and I am not a dealer or a mechanic.  The buyer is responsible to arrange and pay for their own shipping or pick the bike up.  I will store the bike for 30 days.  Please try to get it picked up by then.  Thanks.

Yamaha has received approval from the government of India to build a new factory in Chennai in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Joining an existing factory near New Delhi, the new Chennai plant is expected to increase Yamaha‘s production capabilities in India to 2.8 million units a year by 2018. The new factory will be built on a 109-acre lot in Vallam Vadagal on the outskirts of Chennai.

I can die happy!

As an eighteen year old Kenny Roberts was my bike racing God.  I loved Barry Sheene but as a Yamaha FS1E rider I always wanted the little American to win simply because his bike resembled mine.  The coverage of Grand Prix in the late seventies was sketchy but I clearly remember watching the epic Sheene/Roberts battle unfold at the Silverstone GP on my council estate telly.  The Dutchman, Wil Hartog was hanging in there for a while but as the laps unfolded it became a two way battle with Sheene looking favourite to win.  Sheene lost the most time as the pair lapped a certain George Fogarty so my hero Roberts eventually won by just three hundredths of a second.  I’m not sure what happened next but being a Sunday we would no doubt be skidding around later in the day at the Pines chippie pretending to be Roberts and Sheene.  Fast forward thirty four years and a boyhood fantasy came true as I headed out on Chris Wilson’s 1980 Roberts machine for the Barry Sheene tribute laps at last weekend’s Moto GP.  It crackled into life instantly and felt as sharp as any of the more modern 500s I used to race.  The temperature gauge had a maximum marker on 60 degrees so to begin with I was nervous as it didn’t move but being a hot day (although still keeping my hand on the clutch) I convinced myself it wasn’t working.    The bike felt tiny, not helped by the fact I only just squeezed into my 1989 Marlboro Yamaha leathers.  It still felt rapid though as I played out the 1979 classic in my head while getting tucked in down the Hanger straight.  Steve Parrish was also out there on one of Barry’s 500cc Heron Suzukis so we did our best to copy the famous last lap at Woodcote Corner where Sheene came so close to winning his home GP. As a lad I would have said the chances of me riding round Silverstone on a GP winning Kenny Roberts machine were zero, but in the words of Gabrielle, dreams can come true!

2014 AMA Supercross – St. Louis Results

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

Don’t look now, but James Stewart is the hottest rider in the AMA Supercross Championship. The Yoshimura Suzuki rider won his third consecutive race and series-leading fifth victory of the season. But with Kawasaki‘s Ryan Villopoto holding a comfortable lead with four rounds remaining, Stewart’s hot streak may be too little too late.
