Yamaha XS description

1978 Yamaha XS500. Ready to ride! Pictures speak for themselves. Lots of work done so it is ready to go. Everything works including electric start. Has Supertrapp mufflers which sound awesome. Includes original taillight assembly to return to stock. Has the factory oil filter conversion so filters are easy and inexpensive to replace.  Bike needs nothing to ride.

These bikes are similar to the XS650 but know to handle better and are lighter. I like the look of them too. This was the last and best year of the 500's.

New parts include:

-Fresh full synthetic oil change and filter
-New tires
-Mike's XS new fuel petcocks, lines, and filters
-Seat slightly modified and recovered
-New taillight/brake assembly

I am sure there is more that I am missing. Let me know if you have any questions.

Bike is for sale locally.  I have the right to end auction at any item as long as there are no open offers pending through Ebay.  Thanks!

Yamaha Teams Going Retro For Anaheim 2

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

In preparation for Anaheim 2, round 3 of the AMA Supercross championship, a few Yamaha teams are embracing the past for team colors. The CycleTrader.com Rock River Yamaha team is going back to Yamaha’s corporate roots with a White and Red themed look that could be found on YZs in the latter half of the 1980s and into the 90s. This color scheme also graced the prototype YZ400F Doug Henry rode into the history books with his win at the 1997 Las Vegas Supercross.

Yamaha to Open Plant in Pakistan

Thu, 04 Aug 2011

Yamaha is reportedly planning to open a new manufacturing facility in Pakistan. According to the Associated Press of Pakistan, Yamaha would invest $150 million in the new 50 acre facility, to be located in Karachi, Pakistan’s main seaport and financial hub. The plant would produce motorcycles for the Pakistani market, as well as models to be exported to other Commonwealth of Independent States nations.

Yamaha Files Trademark Application for FJ-09

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

Yamaha‘s next three-cylinder motorcycle may be a sport-tourer, if a recently-filed trademark application is any indication. The Tuning Fork brand filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the name “FJ-09” as it applies to “Motorcycles, scooters, three-wheeled scooters and structural parts for all the aforesaid goods.” Following Yamaha’s usual naming conventions, the signs indicate the trademark will be for a new sport-touring model using the same Triple as the FZ-09. Yamaha has made it clear it plans to introduce more three-cylinder engines following the FZ-09 (or MT-09, as it is known in Europe.) Previously-filed trademark applications for the YZF-R3 and R3 names raised speculation the next triple would be a sportbike, but as per Yamaha’s usual naming convention, the “3″ in R3 is likelier to refer to the engine displacement rather than the number of cylinders.
