Yamaha XS description

Up for auction is my 1978 Yamaha XS650 Bobber build. Matching frame and engine numbers. Clear title. Starts, runs and stops well. I am the third owner of this well maintained bike. I did all of the build off of the original XS650 Special. I have owned the motorcycle for 3 years. When I bought it the mileage read 23,000 miles. I have put approximately 100 miles on it. The after market speedometer reads 91 miles. Many new aftermarket parts have been installed including Pamco Ignition (no points to adjust), Anti-Gravity lithium battery, completely replaced old Yamaha wiring harness with new after market minimal wiring and fuse box, 34MM Mikuni Carburetors, Biltwell Seat, TC Bros handlebars and foot pegs, new Low Brow customs ignition switch, new grips, cables and controls, new front brake master cylinder, new copper painted headlight and bobber style rear tail light/license plate mount. Low miles on new Firestone tires. Electric or kick start. I replaced the #4 starter gear and spring that are the cause of the notorious grinding starter, and she starts easily due to the Pamco ignition. This is a rider NOT A SHOW BIKE, although it did win "Best Bike" at a local builders bike show June 11, 2016! The Sportster tank has a small dent on right side near the top but retains the factory paint job. The frame paint, and wheels are rattle can but look good because I prepared the surfaces  and primed them properly. The rear brake is a little spongy but works fine. I have a brand new rear master cylinder that has not been installed included in sale. This bike is a blast to ride and a head turner. Questions are welcome and I have video of the bike running and being ridden.

Recall for 2009-2011 Yamaha V-Max

Fri, 30 Sep 2011

Yamaha is issuing a recall campaign on certain 2009-2011 V-Max power cruisers due to a potential risk of oil pump malfunction. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, abnormally high oil pressure can build up within the oil pump of certain Yamaha V-Max models. The high pressure may force the washer on the oil pump shaft against the oil pump housing, causing oil to stop pumping through the engine.

"That's one small step for man..."

Fri, 02 Oct 2009

TO CELEBRATE the 40th anniversary of man's first steps on the moon, Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo will wear an astronaut-style paint job on his helmet at this weekend's Portuguese GP. The Spaniard's lid has been sprayed to look a little like a spaceman's helmet and has Neil Armstrong's immortal words: "That's one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind" written on the rear. Let's just hope Lorenzo doesn't launch himself this weekend.
