1975 Yamaha Xs500 Dohc 500 on 2040-motos
Yamaha XS tech info

Yamaha XS description
Vintage 1975 yamaha xs500 w/37561 miles. Kickstart!
The condition is about what you would expect from a 38 year old motorcycle that has been driven regularly. It has some minor scratches and dings. The front left turn signal lens has a hole in it. Overall it is in good cosmetic condition, I would give it an 8 out of 10. Mechanically i would give it a 9 out of 10. The engine top end was rebuilt about 3k miles ago with new gaskets, seals, timing chain and piston rings. The oil filter flange was threaded to accept a 20mm oil filter because the original filters are out of production and replacements don't fit under the side cover. I was using a k&n filter for a nissan sentra.
Has a clear acrylic windscreen/fairing. The original
seat was replaced with a cafe style solo seat. I still have the original 2 person seat pad. I also have a second transmission that
will go with this bike.
This would make a nice starter bike. It's been well
maintained, starts easy and runs great.

Pikes Peak 87th Annual International Hill Climb [pics and video]
Fri, 15 May 2009Named after a man by the name of Zebulon Pike, an explorer who led an expedition to the area in 1806, Pikes Peak is home to the second oldest motorsports race in America second only to the Indianapolis 500. First completed in 1916, this year marks the 87th running of the “Race to the Clouds.” If the math doesn’t add up, this is because there were several years that the event did not run over the course of its 93 year history. The 12.4 mile trek up the mountain consists of 156 treacherous turns to an elevation of 14,110 feet.
Small-Displacement Class Considered for 2015 AMA Pro Racing Season
Wed, 04 Dec 2013More and more manufacturers are entering the small-displacement sportbike market and AMA Pro Racing has taken notice, opening the possibility of adding a new racing class representing the growing segment. With plans to consolidate the Daytona Sportbike and Supersport classes and the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series signed through 2015, a spot will open up on race weekends for another racing class to support the premier Superbike Championship. The logical choice is to introduce a new small-displacement class.
Hipsters: How not to live your life
Mon, 07 Feb 2011I have to start this piece by stating that I'm not from London. I may work here but I grew up in a remote North Western market town where people were (rightly) suspicious of anything or anybody new. Back to London.
