Yamaha XS description

It is with great remorse that I am selling my nearly stock 1972 Yamaha XS 650, with 18,400 original miles. The bike is in good shape mechanically, cosmetically it is not perfect. Here is the situation: The bike was recently dropped when I was run off the road a low speed into a ditch. The bike manged to come out of it pretty much unscathed, although I injured my hand which led to some medical bills - which is the reason why I'm selling, I never thought I would sell this bike as it is way too much fun to ride! You really have to ride and hear it to understand. This bike is amazing for being 45 years old.

The engine is in great shape for the age and it starts up with no issues. The bike is a blast to ride - plenty of power and it shifts smooth (see links to videos I have of it on the road). I have owned the bike for 3 years. I took it on a 450 round trip last summer with no issues. I had two brand new Roadrunner tires put on in February, and had the oil and filters changed at the same time. I installed a new sealed battery last summer. The brakes are good and I lubed the clutch cable and housing in July. I also have a stack of receipts of parts that were bought and installed by the previous owner as he "restored" it. The gas tank is clean and has no rust inside. Carburetors work as they should, I have not gone through them but that's because there was no need to.

The bike will need a few things to be legal on the road such as a new headlight and possibly headlight housing, some electrical turn signal work, and a new tachometer cable.

Cosmetically it is not in showroom condition as you can see in the pictures, but it isn't a rust bucket either. Everything is stock and in the shape you might expect for a 45 year old bike that has been ridden. With some time and effort, this baby will shine. I've tried to include a lot of pictures so you know what you are getting.

It will come with saddlebags, an antique 1972 license plate, tank bag, cover, original owners manual, clymers manual, tools, and several spare parts I have. Please message with any questions. This bike is located inn Richmond, VA, buyer will need to pick it up with a trailer.

To see the bike running, take a look at these videos I took of it today (October 15, 2016). You may have to manually enter them into the browser.

Pedrosa: most wins, least successful

Wed, 11 May 2011

Should Dani Pedrosa win at Le Mans this coming weekend he will become the most successful rider In the premier-class not to win the coveted title. After his triumph in Estoril the Repsol Honda rider currently finds himself on 13 wins and in joint first and a win, at a circuit that sees him rank as one of riders with the most victories in all classes, would make him a clear leader. Joining Pedrosa at the top of the ranking is Max Biaggi and Randy Mamola, two riders who became associated with the number two.

Jefferies' TT V&M R1 for sale

Tue, 26 Apr 2011

We got a tip-off about a former David Jefferies TT R1 for sale on eBay. The owner says it's from the 1998 TT but I'm pretty sure it was the one he raced in 1999. Here's a little bit more background about the V&M TT effort in 1999: In 1990 Jack Valentine gave up racing to concentrate on running V&M Racing, and after being sacked by Honda at the end of the 1998 season, the team set about to do some giant killing.
