Yamaha Virago description

1982 Yamaha XV920 Virago. Bike was originally from Maryland.

4818 miles showing on odometer. Last inspection sticker is from 1987

I purchased this bike on Oct. 2010. I had intentions to restore this to

it's original condition. 1981 thru 1983 Virago's were unique in their

design, with many innovative ideas in their build. The handlebar setup,

air adjustable suspension, and rear mono shock. In 1984 Yamaha made

significant changes to the Virago design, opting for a more economical

motorcycle to build. I worked many hours, collecting N.O.S. parts,

replacement parts, and used parts. Now that I have time to work on it my

health has become an issue. I will list the N.O.S. parts 1st:

N.O.S.

Front fender, handle bar aluminum risers, LH & RH, fuel tank emblems,

new shift lever, headlight rim, side cover foam strips (5), side cover rubber

mounting grommets (10), luggage rack side bars and mounting hardware,

spark plug boot,  side cover Virago emblem.

NEW REPLACEMENT PARTS:

Carb boots, oil line bolt and fittings, rubber covers for clutch and handbrake

levers, complete set of polished allan head bolts for engine, carb kits (2)

needles and seat kits (2), new ignition keys (cut), new turn signals (2),

fuel tank petcock kit, valve seals, Barnett clutch springs

USED PARTS;

Fuel tank, original is dented, set of both carbs, Yamaha Midnight side covers

(2) of the small, one of the large, (4) turn signals with mounting stems.

Have Clymer manuals, one new in plastic, one used, have Haynes manual,

also Yamaha Virago accessories installation manual (dealer only)

If you purchased new or used parts for a 30+ year old bike, you know what

all these parts cost. All these parts go with the bike to the new owner.

This bike ran very well when I purchased it, I am sure with fresh gas

and a good battery it would start and run.

2011 Isle of Man TT Recap

Fri, 10 Jun 2011

The Isle of Man TT usually provides a lot of drama, and this year’s event was no different. John McGuinness, second on the all-time TT wins list, added two more wins to his resume to win the Joey Dunlop Trophy while MotoCzysz once again fell just short of taking the bounty for being the first electric motorcycle team to record a 100 mph lap on the Mountain Course. The 2011 Isle of Man TT also had its share of tragedy with three racing fatalities.
