EICMA 2013: Yamaha Reveals the Tricity

Today, at the EICMA 2013 show, Yamaha unveiled what it is calling a new direction in its urban commuter category. The Tricity is a LMW (Leaning Multi Wheel) scooter aimed at folks who previously may not have considered a two-wheeled alternatives to public transportation. Yamaha Europe "Switches On" Plans for Electric Mobility

Details for electric NEO's to come in the weeks ahead Yamaha Motor Europe outlined its plans for electric two-wheelers, revealing a range of scooters, bicycles and a moped. The announcement confirmed our report last week that it would include an electric scooter called the “NEO’s”, but the 50cc-equivalent model was only scratching the surface. The presentation provided a general outline of Yamaha’s approach to electrification, though it did leave us wanting more.

Yamaha is debuting a new heavy-duty utility motorcycle concept at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. Described as the “SUV motorcycle”, the Yamaha XTW250 RYOKU was designed to carry heavy loads for both on and off the road. The concept’s name suggests it may share elements of Yamaha’s XT250 and TW200 dual sports.
