Day 12 Dakar 2014: Despres Wins Day, Coma Maintains Overall Lead, Barreda Falls Out Of Contention – Video

The penultimate day of Dakar 2014 saw a dramatic change in the overall standings which could make for an exciting final stage tomorrow. Today, however, Yamaha Factory Racing rider Cyril Despres took his second special stage win of 2014 and his 33rd career win for Dakar. Coma, despite taking a 15 minute penalty, finished second for the day, maintaining his overall lead.

Whenever the calendar shifts to a major Japanese race, such as the Suzuka 8hr, one of the more amusing things to do is glance down the team sheet This years highlight for me has to be team Moto Bum, with other stand outs including aprilia D.D.BOYS, Team Etching Factory Yamaha and MITO MOTO & e'freaks Honda. Looking back through the ages some of the great Japanese team names have been Burning Blood Racing Team, Dog Fight Racing and Team Moto Space amongst others. Off-road capability isn’t the first thing people consider when shopping for a scooter but it is one of the more surprising traits of the Yamaha Zuma 125. In his review of the Zuma 125, Tom Roderick says the scooter “radiates a more adventurous attitude” than most scooters, with its knobby tires and hand guards making it capable for the odd excursion off the pavement. But if you’re still not convinced, Yamaha‘s Taiwanese arm has released a video featuring the Zuma 125 (or BWS 125, as it is known internationally) getting rough and rugged in the dirt.
