Yamaha PW description
THERE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE !
I've really enjoyed working on this bike and having it in my garage, it has brought back alot of good memories. Im finished with it now, and time to find her a good home. I hope the next owner will enjoy it as much as I have, and maintain its current condition. Its truly a very nice survivor, and would be a shame to let it go to ruin, as most of these were thrashed and ridden till the wheels fell off. 1983 was the 1st year for the PW80, and this bike is an excellent example. Its an unrestored, low hour, original survivor. I got this bike from the 2nd owner. It had been in storage for over a decade. She still has the factory original seat, plastics, tires, front number plate decal, MONO-X decals on the swingarm, etc.. The frame, swingarm, etc is all original paint. I disassembled the bike down to the frame and engine, hand cleaned everything (no pressure washer) with simple green, tooth brush, rag, and a rinse bottle), inspected everything, replaced some wearable parts, put it all back together, and am amazed how she turned out! I had the gas tank painted, as it was faded from gas fumes, and just didnt match at all anymore. The chrome on the wheels is great. The exhaust was NOT painted either, and its in great shape with no holes, damage, dents...still has both heat shields, and just some very minor surface rust as you would expect. The bike also still has the factory original tires front and back and have great tread remaining. Ive never had to air them up in the 5 months I had her, but they do have some age cracking though. Notice the original black seat band still there...you never see those! Also notice it still has the rubber absorbers in-between the cylinder head cooling fins. I went thru the front forks, replaced the seals and new fluid. The lower tubes have some scratches unfortunatly. I also replaced the steering neck bearings too. The oil tank and injection is still intact and working. I put on a new OEM carburetor, as the original one was just too dirty. A few things to know: at some point somebody touched up the front number plate decal with what appears to be white-out (zoom in on the pic), its not that bad. Those decals are not reproduced, so I didn't have much choice, and its not that noticeable. The seat has one tiny tear as seen in the pics. There are NO cracks in the plastics, and NO deep scratches in the fenders. The tank has some scratches, and I chose not to fill in prior to painting... didn't want it to look perfect, wanted it to match the condition of everything else. I changed the crankcase oil, new OEM air filter, new spark plug, put some 2 cycle oil in the tank, hooked up an auxiliary gas tank...and she started up on the 3rd kick. After a few seconds running, she was idling perfectly by herself. The engine sounds amazing, very tight and quiet. Has great throttle response. I let it run for 10 minutes then turned her off, came back an hour later and she started with half a kick, idling by herself without the choke immediately. She really does purr !!!! I still had her on a jack, so I went thru all 3 gears back and forth.. no issues. Shifted smoothly ever time. There are no leaks of any kind coming from anywhere on the bike. I have now drained all the fluids and ran the carburetor dry, so it will be the new owners responsibly to add fluids back. Included in the sale is the original owners manual. This bike is clean enough to put in your living room ! Ive been over the entire bike...there is nothing missing! 100% complete, and 99% oem original. There are no missing bolts, screws, clips, fasteners, etc...and all the fasteners are oem yamaha, in fact there was only a few missing screws when I started, and I replaced those with some from a parts bike. Parts replaced: OEM petcock OEM air filter OEM gas and oil tank straps (qty 3 total) OEM mud flap OEM oil pump cable OEM grips OEM steering neck bearings OEM fork seals OEM carburetor (will include original carb) OEM bar protector tank decals side number plate decals Bike will be sold with a TX bill of sale only, no title. I'm located in Garland, TX. just 15 miles east of downtown Dallas. This PW80 would look killer in your shop, mancave, business, garage, office, or in your house. Or be used as swap meet cruiser, neighborhood cruiser, pitbike, etc.... I would love to keep it, but I've got enough "keepers" as it is. I'm more than happy to answer any questions, or take some more pics. I also have a short video of the bike running I could send. If your not familiar with shipping, dont worry, its easy, and I can point you in the right direction. New owner must pay for shipping. I will assist and work with any shipper willingly. I can store the bike for awhile till shipping is arranged. Pee Wee pee-wee peewee Y Zinger YZINGER Y-zinger pw 80 pw-80 pw 50 pw-50 |

Rumor Mill: Yamaha To Make R400 and R650
Thu, 25 Jul 2013Yamaha is set to put into production two new sporty bikes — the R400 and R650 — according to “Young Machine” a Japanese motorcycle magazine. If true, this would fill a huge void in the manufacturer’s beginner sportbike bike lineup. It would make sense, considering the success of Suzuki’s SV650 (which later morphed into the Gladius and is now the SFV650), Kawasaki’s Ninja 650 (ER-6 in other markets), and even Honda’s CBR500R.
