1982 Yamaha Xj650 Maxim, Custom bike jack Daniels theme, Original tank chopped and sealed with new petcock and strainer, new sealed battery, new shocks, forks rebuilt, carbs rebuilt and jetted for breathers and open pipes, new LED rear cats eye tail light and front signals, Jack Daniels fifth bottle tin houses all electrical fuses and ignition. I have put 5500 mis on it this summer with no problems. Handles great, fun bar hopper that gets a ton of attention!!Now It's an old bike that's dependable and could use A few things to make it ready for the next season such as carbs need recalibrating and valves need adjusted for peak performance and a set of tires by the end of this season. In a year that saw Yamaha riders James Stewart, Valentino Rossi, and Ben Spies capture the perfect “trifecta” of World Championships, perhaps one of the most memorable moments for race fans around the world, was “King” Kenny Roberts’ return ride at the infamous Indy Mile in late August. As a year end surprise, Yamaha is pleased to offer race fans around the world a video of this monumental occasion. The video features both archival footage from Kenny’s victory in 1975 as well as the events surrounding this recent monumental motorcycling event.

Yamaha Names Olivier Pain and Michael Metge to 2015 Dakar Team

Yamaha has retained Olivier Pain and Michael Metge to race for its official factory team in the 2015 Dakar Rally. Pain and Metge will ride a new WR450F Rally currently being developed for the 2015 rally. Both riders raced for the Yamaha team in this year’s rally; Pain finished third overall behind KTM Red Bull team’s Marc Coma and Jordi Viladoms while Metge rode as a support rider for fourth-place finisher Cyril Despres.

As I’ve been gagging for the new race season to kick off so it was almost a pleasure getting up at stupid 0 clock to watch the World Superbike Championship  opener at Phillip Island last weekend. I have to say Messrs Burnicle and Whitham were on form although I was disappointed there were none of the usual verbal attacks on each other that always add to the entertainment.    I’m sure they will put things right soon but the world superbike regulars must have been disheartened that Moto GP veterans nailed five of the six available rostrum slots.
