Yamaha Other description

2013 Yamaha Super Tenere, If you are planning to go in an adventure on two wheels then youll certainly have to carefully choose the perfect motorcycle. Firstly it will have to be reliable to the core, then very comfortable and of course strong and agile to be able to ride effortless on the highway but also on the unpaved roads. The Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tnr fits perfectly in this pattern and does much more than that. At the heart of this beauty lies a 1199 cc, liquid cooled, 2 cylinder engine that develops a maximum output of 80.9 kW (110PS) at 7,250 rpm and 114.1 Nm (11.6 kg-m) of torque at 6,000 rpm.The Super Tnr is equipped with Yamahas Chip-Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) technology with 3-stage traction control that can be turned off if wanted. You also get switchable Yamaha D-MODE engine mapping. The motorcycle rides on spoked, tubeless aluminium rims wrapped in imposing 110/80R19M/C 59V front and 150/70R17M/C 69V rear tires.

Filling a void with an RD350LC

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

Last winter I managed to fill a void in my life when I stumbled on a very reasonably priced Yamaha RD350LC.  It was a tad scruffy, had the wrong exhausts but most importantly it was blue and white with all numbers matching.  I had the usual euphoria when the deal was done but I underestimated how much pleasure this particular purchase would continue to deliver another eight months down the line. The difference with this old bike is, instead of just taking it for the occasional ride I was talked into doing a full nut and bolt restoration.  Having never taking a bike apart completely before, initially it was quite daunting but I soon found the RD is easy to work on so it turned into a truly satisfying experience.  I’ve had some help from LC enthusiasts with the rebuild, however, the stripping, sourcing and organising was a total labour of love.  And call me sad but it has made me bond with this bike like no other which only adds to the feel good factor.  The bike cost £1800 and I’ve spent around £1000 but I reckon my mint Elsie is now worth a fair bit more.   I fancy rejuvenating a Fizzy  next time but there’s lots of other cheap 70’s and 80’s winter projects  out there so why not have a go yourself?

1.5litre V8 two-stroke

I don't know about you but I've yet to ride anything with two wheels and an engine that I didn't enjoy in one form or another. From minimotos to 1800 Goldwings, there's always some fun to be had even if it is just the novel experience that makes you grin. I am not one for a pidgeonhole, that's for sure.

Dunlop’s Newest DOT Race Tire: the Sportmax GP-A Pro

Mon, 21 Jul 2014

Dunlop has released its newest DOT-legal racing tire, the Sportmax GP-A Pro. Being the spec tire manufacturer for the AMA Pro Roadracing series gives Dunlop plenty of top-level R&D test riders to develop the next line of tires. Couple that with the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Buffalo, New York, and the days of grabbing a set of UK tires over their American counterparts is over.
