The FZ1 was produced for the United States in 2001. Models produced in the period 2001 to 2005 were known as FZS1000 Fazer in Europe later a black engine was introduced and this was called the FZS1000S. They had a modified Yamaha YZF-R1 motor in a steel tubular frame. The FZ1 was carbureted.
