Yamaha Other description

I am selling a mint condition 1987 Yamaha YSR50 mini sport bike. 1987 was the first year of production, and this is in the iconic Yamaha red and white color scheme

This bike is in absolutely near mint condition. It is clean enough to eat off and really has no issues to speak of.

I am the third owner of the bike and while I hate to sell it, I need to free up the room and some cash.

Notes and condition description:
  • Bike shows no signs of ever being down and previous owner said he never dropped it
  • The odometer reads roughly 3500 miles
  • I have a clear California title in hand.
  • Stock, all original condition
  • Starts, runs and rides perfectly. No issues at all. Starts first kick.
  • Some of the fairings have been repainted and new decals installed, but to the stock Yamaha spec
  • Every nut and bolt is OEM spec
  • Starts, runs and rides like mint
  • Almost no cosmetic blems.
  • Very clean, low use for a 29 year old motorcycle
  • There was a slow fuel leak from the petcock and the frame has a very small and narrow gold mark on it, but thats not a big deal. Leak was fixed and is no longer an issue.
  • Tires, wheels and chain and sprockets are like new
  • Gas tank looks new
  • Triple clamp was painted to look new, as was side case of motor. This was not due to damage, but to keep it looking mint.
Overall, this is a 9.5 out 10 bike.  It is really nice looking and near new condition. Starts, runs and rides. It is ready to be rolled into your office or collection. Finding a YSR in this shape is pretty rare, and its getting harder and harder to find.

I can ship anywhere in the USA for $425 enclosed and insured.  South Florida and Long Island might be a little more, but I can work with you on shipping. Or organize your own.

The boring stuff (but please read):
Shipping: I can assist with shipping or you are free to organize your own. I can currently ship insured (with a $500 deductible) and enclosed anywhere in the USA for $450. If you live in Maine, Long Island or the Florida keys there is a surcharge, but outside of that, the shipping rate is $450 to anywhere in the lower 48.

I can and will ship international, but the buyer must coordinate this, as the process can be cumbersome. I will assist as best as possible and do have really good access to shippers to the UK, Europe  and Australia. I can also ship to the middle east as well. But please note that all paperwork will be handled by the buyer.

Seller Notes:
  • If you are a serious buyer and have the money in hand, I am happy to talk to you on the phone about whatever questions or interest you have in the bikes. But please, no time wasters or tire kickers.
  • If you are a serious buyer, it is available to be shown, but I am not looking for tire kickers or time wasters. The bike is located in Northern California.
Payment: A $500 non refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of closing, or a friendly phone call or clear email on who you are and how you intend to close the deal. I am very easy to work with, but a little clear communication goes a long way with me. Paypal is fine for deposit, but the fee and commission they take is very high.  We will take payment however is easiest for you for to send, as we understand that some buyers might be out of the country. Cash, bank to bank payment, bank check, Paypal, WU, Carrier Pidgin - whatever - but as long as it clears our bank and you are not playing the Nigerian lottery with me, I could care less how it comes. Just make sure it comes when you say it will come.

My bikes are always for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the listing at any time if a local buyer comes forward.

In case you are wondering anything about me as a seller, I have been on eBay since 1998 (thats over 18 years) and have not one negative feedback. I am just a nut for older dirt bikes and ATV's from the 1980's. I have a nice collection of bikes that I have built up over 15 years of collecting and messing about. I have several others that I am selling, including several 85 - 86 250r's and 350x's, as well as some Fourtrax TRX250r stuff. I am clearing out some bikes to make room for other projects.

See my other listings for some more of my stuff, but I doubt I will get around to listing all of them.

This is Jorge Lorenzo’s New Motorcycle: Yamaha YBR250

Tue, 07 Feb 2012

You would figure a former MotoGP World Champion and one of the top motorcycle racers on the planet would have his pick for a streetbike. Not if he doesn’t have a motorcycle license and is practicing for his riding test however. In 2010 MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo‘s case, his ride is the Yamaha YBR250.
