Yamaha Other description

1985 Yamaha Venture Royale

Full dress touring motorcycle. The odometer shows 48,797 but there is only a little over 8,000 on the engine & transmission. The early Ventures would sometimes develop a problem with 2nd gear, this one did around 40,000 miles. At that time it was taken to a certified Yamaha mechanic for repairs. The mechanic was told, as long as it's all apart, to freshen the motor also.

I've owned it for almost 7 years and enjoyed every minute of riding it. But time is taking its' toll, on me! I'm 65 years old and have lost most of the cartillage in my left ankle. Getting on & off of it isn't as easy as it used to be, not to mention the task of backing it out of the garage.

Equipment;

It has a V-4, liquid cooled engine with shaft drive and a 5 speed transmission. The V-4 engine used in these is the same motor as used in the Yamaha V-Max. It has enough power to put a scare into even an experienced rider.

AM/FM-Cassette, which works perfect and sounds great. Automatically increases volume with speed.

Air-ride suspension with an on-board compressor.

Electronic, speed sensitive cruise control

Dual bucket seat with drivers backrest

On-board clock/stopwatch

Temp guage

Amp guage

Gas guage

Gear indicater

On-board computer that does a safety check upon startup.

Locking & removable Saddlebags and tourpack

Additional storage pouches behind drivers backrest, passengers seat, by passengers seat and both sides of fairng. There is also a locking storage compartment on the right side of the fairing.

The rear tire has about 500 miles on it, the front less than 100. And the oil & filter less than 100 also.

New starter last summer.

Comes with a new battery,

Includes a never used cover and a factory service manual.

And, there is an extra windshield. The original was too tall for my liking, so I bought a used one and cut it down.

Keep in mind, this is a 28 year old bike, and it does have some small blemishes. But you will have to look long & hard to find another one that has been as well cared for or meticulously maintained as this one.

I require a $200 Paypal deposit, (non-refundable) within 24 hours of auction end and the balance at time of pickup.

Pikes Peak 87th Annual International Hill Climb [pics and video]

Fri, 15 May 2009

Named after a man by the name of Zebulon Pike, an explorer who led an expedition to the area in 1806, Pikes Peak is home to the second oldest motorsports race in America second only to the Indianapolis 500. First completed in 1916, this year marks the 87th running of the “Race to the Clouds.” If the math doesn’t add up, this is because there were several years that the event did not run over the course of its 93 year history. The 12.4 mile trek up the mountain consists of 156 treacherous turns to an elevation of 14,110 feet.
