Yamaha Other description

Complete running '83 RX50.

I purchased this bike many years ago and rode it daily for a long time. The bike came to me 'bastardized' in a mix of parts RX and others. The transition to full stock took a long time and plenty of money. Aside from a custom ss flex hose for the front brakes is has few non oe parts today- a paper air filter and alternate ignition coil. Along the way....tach, fenders, handlebars, lighting, mirrors and much more were replaced with nos or auction items returning it to its correct appearance. Recent fresh paint on the tank for a color match on another black bike we painted this one too. Original finish on front fender (purchased NOS Yamaha for about $85 if I recall!) and faded black on the rears.

Over the years; assorted carb parts, a .25mm overbore new piston and rings, brake pads, shoes and the usual stuff.

I've put over 6,000 miles on this machine. Hard to believe but true. And it runs as well today as it ever has. Top speed with me (and a one tooth over counter sprocket) is about 52mph (180lbs) behind an SUV! I don't suggest that but push it to 9500rpm or more and you might break 55. Some have said 60...down hill maybe and with a 120 rider! Not so sure I'd want to go that fast on it. However it's a great little commuter bike and while you'll be in 5th gear by the other side of the intersection it'll cruise at 42-46mph in traffic all day. Just takes a bit to get there.

Currently needs new tires. Both of them. I have info on them but have not purchased them. Oil injection works (although I ad a bit of premix also) but I've had no luck in getting the sender to work correctly. Headlamp and brake lights work, one turn signal is out, horn does not work, battery is tended to and it starts with a couple kicks all the time. Usual scratches and such, a couple of scrapes in the chrome muffler, glued plastic clip on one side cover, some pin holes in seat (I think it as near a welder in a former life) and "luggage" box cover has crack. However the tool bag is in there and have both the owners manual and factory service manual. *Will work on turn signal and horn, see what I find.

Recently taught my wife to ride and this was her first machine to ride the neighborhood on. Time to move onto something a bit larger we purchased another machine. Now the 50 just sits there again...Currently titled and insured in AZ as a collector bike. If it were a Midnight I'd keep it for my collection, but it's not..it's simply a "Special". This bike, while needing a bit more love would be a prime candidate for a full restoration making it an awesome machine. It's all there, correct and waiting for you.

Will aide in shipping load up etc. I suggest HAULBIKES.COM as they do a fine job at a fair price.

Glen Richards back with Embassy Racing

Wed, 27 Oct 2010

One of the unsung heroes of the BSB paddock over the past few seasons, has to be 2010 Superstock 1000 runner up Glen Richards. A nasty tumble in at the Brands Hatch opener lead to four DNFs, but once back on track he pushed the dominant BMWs hard, finishing on the podium eight times. While many were trading their grannies to fund new S1000RRs, Richards kept the faith and rode the wheels off his Padgett’s Honda Fireblade.

2014 AMA Supercross – Anaheim 3 Results

Chad Reed tasted victory for the second time in three weeks at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., leading all 20 laps and fending off a last-lap challenge from rookie upstart Ken Roczen. Reed, who also won the Jan. 18 round in the second of three Anaheim races, now trails fellow Kawasaki rider Ryan Villopoto by just two points in the 2014 AMA Supercross championship race.

2023 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ Review – First Ride

Thu, 18 May 2023

Yamaha’s sports tourer middleweight receives an influx of technology for 2023 Astute readers are probably wondering why Motorcycle.com is publishing a First Ride of a bike that’s not coming to the States this model year. Our reasoning is that, thanks to the sleuthing of Dennis Chung, we suspect the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ will be coming to the U.S. in 2024.
