Yamaha Other tech info
Yamaha Other description
This should be a great project bike. All original parts and components are present, as seen in the photos. This is a two-owner bike. I bought it from the original purchaser when it was about six months old and have owned it ever sense. Most of the miles are mine. I have not ridden it since 1979, and it has been stored inside ever since.
The bike ran well when I put it away thirty-six years ago. I have recently cleaned the carburetor, but have not had any luck getting it running. I'm sure that it needs a new wiring harness and maybe some gaskets and seals. The engine and transmission are tight; it holds compression and there are no significant leaks from either the engine or transmission. The front forks and rear shocks hold pressure, and the brakes engage. It needs a paint job, and you'd probably want to replace the rubber later on, but they are both good as they stand right now. If you're looking for a fun and reliable bike that's simple and cheap to restore, have a look. Last registration was in Pennsylvania, and I have the documents. You are responsible for shipping/collecting the bike from my home in Minneapolis, Minnesota area. |

Isle of Man TT 2012: Supersport TT 2 Results
Thu, 07 Jun 2012Michael Dunlop added another chapter to the Dunlop family history in the Isle of Man TT, winning the second Monster Energy Supersport race of the 2012 event. Dunlop led at the end of all four laps for his third career TT win. His uncle, Joey Dunlop, is the all-time leader in TT wins at 26 while his father Robert Dunlop has five.
You. Call. That. Lean
Fri, 14 May 2010Jean Philippe Ruggia, 1988, Coppice at Donington Park, Sonauto-Yamaha 250. This is elbow lean action. There was a previous blog entry of Ben Spies and his elbow grazing the tarmac onboard the M1 Yamaha, I admit it is impressive but I find myself admiring the horizontal angles that Ruggia submitted his 250 Yamaha to, with the above image taken at Coppice as a prime example.
Yamaha Officially Announces Monster Energy Sponsorship
Tue, 08 Jan 2013As we reported in December, energy drink producer Monster Energy has signed a sponsorship agreement with Yamaha‘s factory MotoGP program, putting its brand on the Yamaha YZR-M1 race bikes, team clothing and equipment, as well as riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi. Monster Energy already had a personal sponsorship deal with Rossi but the company will now also sponsor Lorenzo. The reigning MotoGP Champion had previously had a sponsorship arrangement with rival energy drink company RockStar, but Yamaha exercised a clause in its contract with Lorenzo allowing a buy out of the RockStar deal as it conflicts with the team’s sponsor.
