1971 Yamaha HT1-MX

90cc Motocross

-No Reserve Auction-

1971 Yamaha HT1 MX -- Built by Yamaha for only 6 months, these little 90cc racers are now extremely hard to find and have become quite collectible. This is a matching numbers original. Developed as an interim bike prior to Yamaha's 100 LT2MX, these little bikes and their hi-po engines came from the factory with all of Yamaha's full zoot GYT parts added. Rated at 14.5 hp @ 9,500 rpm, these little screamers were built to rev. I suppose they were called an intermediate sized bike back in the day, but in reality they were more closely sized to a 'mini enduro' (on PCP!).

This bike runs great, but original IRC 18" tires are cracking and rear tube will no longer hold air. Please see photos of both of the tire's tread condition as this is your best way to determine actual mileage. Also, the shocks and forks are original and will undoubtedly need rebuild prior to riding quickly. Original aluminum MX fenders, brackets, GYT pipe (in excellent condition and would be impossible to find if missing), wheels, forks, frame, air cleaner, oil tank, bars, cables, foot pegs, kick stand, etc. all there. SEAT IS OFF OF A MINI ENDURO--it is shorter and doesn't quite fit, but in my opinion it looks much better than the stock 90 HT1 seats which were at least 3-4 inches longer. Tank has been repainted with new tank badges, and it looks pretty good.

Included is a new reproduction HT1 seat cover w/strap, and an original factory Yamaha HT1MX supplementary service guide which gives you instructions on HOW TO GET EVEN MORE POWER out of this little monster.

I found this bike several years ago from an estate sale in El Segundo, CA. It shows the typical moisture corrosion associated with beach cities along the west coast. Not bad, but a restoration would really do wonders for this. Or, just ride the heck out of it as is. If I were going to keep it I'd rebuild the forks, find a good set of aftermarket shocks, and then install a new pair of those little 18" Barum knobbies (2.75 front & 3.50 rear) for sale here on ebay. Would look way better, and would be much more fun too.

This bike is also for sale on my website AzMikesVMXbikes.com, and I reserve the right to end auction early with an acceptable offer. Any buyers wishing to make offer may contact me and I will insert a Buy-it Now option here on ebay so that buyer may end the auction early.

$250.00 deposit due through Paypal. PLEASE NOTE: I am not a bank and I don't accept installment payments. If you bid and win then you need to pay for your purchase, please. Balance is to be paid in full either upon pick up with cash, or in advance with check or wire transfer within 7 days. Bike does not leave my possession until paid in full and all funds have cleared. If you can not adhere to this policy then PLEASE DON'T BID.

This is a used, vintage, off road, competition equipped motorcycle. It is sold in AS-IS condition with no guarantees or warrantees expressed or implied. Please know that no matter how nice a bike looks from the surface, there will INVARIABLY be items which need to be serviced, repaired, or replaced BY YOU prior to riding or racing it.

SHIPPING: All shipping costs and scheduling are the responsibility of the BUYER, but I can help with shipping anywhere in the world. Please contact me for details.

Josh Hayes To Wear RS Taichi In 2014

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha rider Josh Hayes will be sporting a new look this upcoming racing season. The three-time AMA Pro Racing SuperBike Champion will be protected by RS Taichi racing leathers and gloves while aboard his Yamaha YZF-R1 SuperBike. After a long-standing relationship with Teknic, his previous protective gear provider who ceased operation last year, Josh had an opportunity to go in a new direction.

What Would Colin Edwards Do?

Wed, 25 May 2011

As fast as Colin Edwards is on the track, the Texas Tornado may be even quicker behind a microphone. We saw some of that last year in the Yamaha-produced “Man-Cation” video with Edwards and his then-Tech 3 teammate Ben Spies, and Edwards can always be relied upon for a good quote at press conferences. The producers of MotoGP’s official video podcast “After the Flag” have taken notice of CEIII’s wit.

Think You’re a Smooth Rider? Yamaha’s SmartRiding App Will Prove It

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

Yamaha has released a new app that records and evaluates riding habits. The free Yamaha SmartRiding app (available now in the App store) uses the Apple devices sensors to measure basic telemetry to evaluate how smoothly you handle curves. The app requires the device to be firmly fixed to the motorcycle in either a vertical or horizontal arrangement (the app is compatible with iPhones, iPods and iPads, though I’m not sure how many people will mount a tablet to their motorcycle).
