THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!!! The King is alive, long live the King! This auction is for a REALLY sweet Yamaha JT1 Mini Enduro, VIN #JT1-070494, manufactured in 1971/72. Since it needed paint anyway, I decided to pay homage to the King, Kenny Roberts Senior (aka KRSR), winner of many national AND International motorcycle racing titles, dirt and pavement!!! I got to watch him many times, INCLUDING riding the famous TZ750 engined flattracker (check it out on YouTube), the inspiration for this “bumble bee” paint job. In addition to a decal of the King in action on the oil tank, there is also a copy of his autograph on the gas tank! Impress your friends! For those of you unfamiliar with this classic mini, it is powered by a 60cc two stroke oil injected engine. How many of us learned to ride motorcycles on a mini like this? This is a PERFECT learner’s bike, short, light, with all the controls set up just like a full size motorcycle. This is not a perfect museum piece, but HAS been painstakingly restored with lots of TLC. To start with, the engine has been totally rebuilt (fresh bore job, new piston and rings, clutch and transmission totally gone through and adjusted, engine cases and head beadblasted, all new seals and gaskets, carb rebuilt, etc) by a factory trained Yamaha mechanic with over 40 years of experience. Great compression; ignition timing and carburetion are “spot on”. You will actually have to BREAK THIS ENGINE IN (I’ve put about 5 minutes on the bike since rebuild)! This mini is STRONG and FAST but still very easy to ride! Starts easily on first or second kick, idles fine. The following are new and have been replaced with either NOS or reproduction parts: front brake cable, clutch cable, seat cover, spark plug, fuel line, drive chain and of course, fresh oil. Aftermarket enhancements include high-po lifetime foam air filter and new petcock. Mechanically, brakes work very well, clutch is excellent, gearbox shifts great all through four gears, and kill button works fine. Bike has original Autolube oil injection system, no pre-mix needed, just add two stroke injection oil to the separate oil tank. The original grips are still in good condition! Cosmetically, there is some minor wear and tear, as to be expected with a bike that is over 40 years old – call it PATINA. Chrome is in very good condition overall. Previous owner actually polished the engine side cases, a little steel wool would REALLY make them shine. The white spots in the photos are reflections. Since there is no speedometer the mileage is unknown. The gas tank is all original, very solid. Down the road, bike will need fork seals (starting to weep slightly) and wipers (one is starting to crack). Tires are fair, still have some life left. Shinko makes a nice replacement when it’s time. Other than that, this should serve you VERY well. I have WAY more invested in this bike than I am asking. This motorcycle is all complete, here is a chance for you to OWN HISTORY! This bike deserves a great home to a young child hankering for his first bike, an old kid wanting to relive his youth, or someone wanting a REALLY cool pit bike. We try to accurately describe the shortcomings, but look at the photos and ask questions before bidding. Don’t bid if you intend to negotiate afterward; that is not how eBay works. I will provide a Bill of Sale if you would like one, there is no title (these bikes are usually not registered). There aren’t a lot of these around anymore, so don’t miss your chance to own one! SHIPPING: Buyers to pay and arrange for shipping and crate, if necessary. Seller is willing to take bike to Sacramento, CA. for shipping via ForwardAir.com or other carrier of your choice, in Sacramento for $75.00 additional fee to cover our fuel and time.
